Five Figure Fanwork Exchange

Good luck to everyone working to meet the main deadline! It's 11:59pm EST, Saturday 20 January and here's a countdown.

When posting, please:

• Check your work is fully posted (rather than 'preview' or 'save as draft'). It should appear on your Stats page! I will contact you if I see you've uploaded a draft, but I may need to seek a pinch hit.


• Check your recipient's Do-Not-Wants. This is really important. Thorough DNW checking is out of scope for me as a mod. It's a tragedy when someone spends a lot of time working on a gift, overlooks or misinterprets a DNW, and ends up with a work their recipient can't appreciate and may even feel hurt by. If you're unsure about a DNW, you're very welcome to email me to check. A beta's advice may also be useful.

Please don't upload placeholders (either something like filler text that doesn't match the request, or a work that is so rough that you'd be embarrassed to see it go live). I give moderate extensions (please email) and you don't need to tell me why you're asking for one.

The deadline is 11:59pm EST, Saturday 21 January, and please also see a countdown.

Placeholders and drafts
To those who are tempted: please do not upload junk text as your assignment! It is stressful for everyone.

It is okay for your uploaded work not to be your final draft yet, but it needs to be a real first draft. It needs a beginning, a middle, an end, and connections in between. It needs to be something good enough to show a hypothetical beta such that the beta wouldn't just ask "Is this all the document?" or "Are these comic panels actually in order?" A fic needs to read like a story - no [SEX SCENE GOES HERE] parts. Do not upload a placeholder.

I know that unintentional blunders can happen with copy-pasting and drafts; but if your work looks like a placeholder when you upload it and you are not able to promptly respond to me and fix it, I'll have to chase you up further and seek a pinch hitter just the same as if you'd uploaded lorem ipsum. (Which has happened! I was dolorous.) Please let's avoid such an awkward waste of effort.

Another trap with drafts: the actual AO3 draft function. Please make sure when you post that your work is fully posted. If it's posted fully, you will be able to see it in your Works in Collections page and on your stats page. On your assignment, the Fulfil button will have gone away. Works in Draft status need to be published fully in order to fulfil your assignment. Before then, they can't go live for your recipient to read and I can't check them.


On a much brighter note, congratulations to everyone who's posted already, and my every encouragement to those who are staring the deadline in the eye, fully expecting it to blink first. I am willing to give moderate extensions; please email me and include your name and your recipient's name. As of this moment, I think I've replied to all extension requests, and I've checked my spam folder, so if you never heard back from me, please reach out again.

Any work must be for a fandom your recipient has requested and one character/relationship/worldbuilding tag requested in that fandom, and must avoid their DNWs.

Some of the pinch hits below can be claimed by creators who are willing to offer one fic of 5,000+ words or one comic of 20+ panels. This varies by fandom as well as by request. Please be clear if that's what you're offering - otherwise I'll assume you're claiming all of a pinch hit. Thank you!

Additional Requests
In this exchange, I do not ask participants who are out to pinch hit to expand requests. Everyone who is owed a gift, is owed a gift they can be excited about, according to the minimum requests required on signing up. However, the long creation period of this exchange means you may have fallen in love with new things since last August. So if you want to add to your requests because there's something new you'd be just as keen to get as your other things, you can comment here or email me with what you'd like me to add. It doesn't have to be in the tag set already. You don't have to be a present pinch hit to add requests, either.

I will not remove existing requests.
