The main deadline has passed! The collection grows strong! Congratulations to those who have posted and good luck to those still working on a late pinch hit or to an extension. Our beta reader volunteers are on standby to help with your polishing & second opinion needs.
I wish to highlight the pinch hitters' prompts post. This exchange absolutely relies on pinch hitters. It would be fantastic if all of these pinch hitters who weren't signed up had something to enjoy at collection reveals time - even if it's very small, like a drabble or a doodle. fffx does not have a minimum length/size for treats!

The following pinch hits are due at 11:59pm EST, Saturday 12 February. Please comment or email, with your AO3 name, to claim (note I cannot reply to anon comments).
Minimum requirements: An art gift must be a completed comic at least 10 pages or 40 panels long; a fic gift must be a story at least 10,000 words long. You can also fulfil a pinch hit by giving two complete half-length works, if your recipient has opted into that for the fandom(s) you are creating in. Any work must be for a fandom your recipient has requested and one character/relationship/worldbuilding tag requested in that fandom, and must avoid their DNWs.

Imogen Radcliffe/Daniela Reyes
Two plucky 1920s gals setting off on their motorcycles to investigate eldritch horrors—what’s not to love? Daniela hits me square in the competence kink, and Imogen is a delight who’s obviously head over heels about her. (No one on a cross-country trip lingers that long at a random garage in small-town Massachusetts if they’re not more interested in their mechanic than the rest of the scenery.) Please feel especially free to include appearances by or mentions of Rogelio and Pawel, and bonus points for sharing my assumption that those two are also a couple.
• The pair’s attraction is still unspoken when they set off together after the events of Daniela’s origin story, but something in the course of their first official investigation brings the matter to a head.
• Imogen is called back to England on a family emergency, and Daniela comes with her. Supernatural or mundane adventures ensue on the other side of the pond.
• Daniela and Imogen don’t have to look far for supernatural happenings to investigate, as it soon becomes evident that Ma’s Boarding House is haunted.
• Despite her best efforts to protect them by leaving, Daniela returns to the garage with Imogen when Rogelio and Pawel are targeted by a supernatural threat and need her help.
• Daniela and Imogen saddle up their bikes and take a road trip to creator’s choice of location.
João/Calvin Wright
Calvin’s backstory breaks my heart, and all I want is for him to save the world so he and the kind, gentle man who made him feel safe get to be together again. I’m not married to any description, design or backstory for João, but if you’re looking for a jumping-off point, I’ve previously pictured him as a slight, dapper Afro-Brazilian man a little older than Calvin who relocated to Buenos Aires for the art scene.
• Worried sick and having finally found a lead, João tracks Calvin down and shows up in Arkham for an unexpected reunion.
• Calvin was not expecting to have his entire life changed by a painting, let alone by the man who painted it. What happened in those early days in Buenos Aires?
• After having saved the world and returned home to João, Calvin encounters a different kind of supernatural mystery.
• One of the other investigators joins Calvin for his trip home to Buenos Aires, or tries to find him after their shared adventures in Arkham.
• Calvin and João are happily reunited, but Calvin is carrying fresh injuries or bad memories that make readjusting to life together more difficult than he hoped. (Happy or hopeful ending preferred here.)
Stella Clark/"Skids" O'Toole
These are two of my favourite investigators, and I just like the idea of them being opposites on the surface (a Survivor-class civil servant and a Rogue of a former bank robber) who overlap on a shared sense of duty to the truth and to others. Also, with Skids coming across as a pretty sophisticated guy who’s spent time in some diverse and marginal spaces, it’s easy to assume he doesn’t need to be brought up to speed about some people being a different gender than they were formally assumed to be. Likewise, while I imagine Stella’s a generally law-abiding woman, I can see her having empathy for someone who committed nonviolent crimes to pay his mother’s hospital bills.
• The two meet cute in a mundane situation and each find it increasingly hard to hide the insane-sounding horrors they’re investigating from this completely normal new love interest.
• Stella starts finding letters addressed to a stranger named [creator’s chosen first name for Skids] O’Toole at the bottom of her mailbag each day, which appear to be from his mother.
• Skids and Stella take a trip to the big city—Boston, New York, Chicago, etc.—for business or pleasure, only to hit an unexpected snag.
• The trials of trying to date/propose/get married in Arkham, MA.
• For reasons related to an investigation, Skids has to teach Stella how to carry out a break-in.

Note: My prompts run a tad shorter and vaguer here because just getting characters from two different properties together tends to be a story in and of itself. I don’t mind jumping into a story where the characters have already met if you’ve got your own plot in mind, but I’m also very happy to have most of the story focus on the quasi-outsider POV of meeting each other, learning about each other’s world and friends, and getting together.
Frank Castle/Peter Parker
Seeing Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland together in Pilgrimage immediately gave me a serious craving for this pairing, with some of the same dynamics carrying over of an older warrior with PTSD forming a protective attachment to a younger, more idealistic hero. Feel free to go with a high school aged Peter or something set further down the road, and feel free to include the major plot events of the TV show and movies or gloss over them as needed.
• Pursuing the same villain leads to an unexpected team-up, an unexpected rescue, and an even more unexpected connection.
• Frank and Peter meet in their civilian lives. Only one of them—or neither—realizes that the other is a vigilante too.
• Running into The Punisher (or Frank Castle) for the first time proves to be a formative experience for Peter. When pictures and videos of similar-looking guys online fail to satisfy, Peter engages in a teensy bit of light stalking.
Hannibal Lecter/Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini
Hannibal would certainly find his way to a hidden gem of a restaurant in Rome, and I’m sure he would be very intrigued by an odd, intensely observant sommelier like Gigi who has an exceptional palate and knack for reading people. I’d like for Gigi to get out of whatever happens alive and without any serious scars, but avoiding emotional trauma because he’s Gigi as opposed to because he avoided the full brunt of Hannibal’s insanity is a-okay with me.
• Gigi moonlights on occasion to select the wine for private events. When sampling the cooking of a visiting doctor holding a series of dinner parties, he becomes fixated on finding the perfect accompaniment for something he’s never tasted before.
• Once a year (or whatever interval), a customer from America comes to the restaurant and dines with Gigi. Speculation runs rampant among the rest of the staff.
• Gigi really did kill his father and has since on occasion poisoned others who threaten the happiness of his loved ones. Hannibal discovers this and is smitten.
Hannibal Lecter/Medic
It might take a little nudging of the timeline, or the assumption that all that Australium exposure and his deal with the devil keep Medic spry until the end of his life, but I can’t help wanting to see these two together. A couple of devilish former surgeons with very loose interpretations of the Hippocratic Oath? They would get along like a house on fire—which is to say, there may be few survivors.
• While at John Hopkins, Hannibal is mentored by a cheerful older surgeon who proves to be more than he appears. (Alternatively, a canon-era Hannibal is visited in Baltimore by his former mentor.)
• Hannibal targets an obnoxious German tourist for the butcher block, only to find the tables turned.
• Hannibal and Medic meet at a medical convention. Chaos ensues.

Aberforth Dumbledore/Severus Snape
I will readily ship Severus Snape with any older man in whistling distance, but make it a gruff and worldworn one who—like him—has extremely complicated feelings about Albus Dumbledore and I’m doubly sold. Given the places where their stories overlap, I really like the idea of them having some sort of cynical but all-too-understanding arrangement behind the scenes. I’m open to underage if you want to go there, and a canon timeline or an AU ending where Snape lives. I’m also open to some brief mentions of past one-sided Snape/Lily if the plot calls for it, although I’m also more than up for a gay Snape whose attachment to Lily was more aspirational.
• Whether out of necessity, academic curiosity, or a thirst for power, Severus becomes interested in learning a niche variety of magic that Aberforth has mastered.
• The scrutiny of running errands or even having a moment to oneself in Hogsmeade as a Hogwarts professor is too much for young Professor Snape. He begins occasionally having a drink at the Hog’s Head in disguise, and under an assumed name ends up entangled with the landlord.
• AU: Having survived the events of Deathly Hallows, Severus is at loose ends and finds an unexpected fresh start with Aberforth.
• A young Severus abruptly leaves home between school years, or just upon leaving Hogwarts, and gains employment at the Hog’s Head.
• After Albus’s death, Aberforth and Severus secretly remain in contact throughout the second rise of Voldemort.
Argus Filch/Severus Snape
As mentioned above, it doesn’t take much to sell me on shipping Severus Snape with an older man, but this one gets a bonus for segueing so smoothly into the realm of daddy issues and complicated power dynamics. You’ve got Severus, who grew up with a magic-less but intimidating working class father, then Argus who starts off as a marginal authority figure in his student days and then becomes someone he gives orders to as a teacher. Ditto the Aberforth request above re: underage, canon timeline or AU, and Snape/Lily.
• During his first year of teaching, Severus discovers that there's more to the caretaker than he assumed as a student. Alternatively, Argus gains a new admiration for Severus when he returns as a teacher.
• While Severus is poking around in Argus’s office or Argus is repairing something in Severus’s room, one of them discovers unexpected evidence of a shared interest (vanilla or otherwise.
• AU: Having survived the events of Deathly Hallows, Severus is at loose ends and finds an unexpected fresh start with Argus.
• A student-aged Severus discovers that detentions with Mr. Filch can be more interesting than he ever would have guessed.
• Severus is in need of a guinea pig for a potions experiment. Argus volunteers, but the experiment goes awry with an unexpected side effect.

Things I Love About This Canon: Humour • Ridiculous/whimsical worldbuilding • The juxtaposition of that ridiculousness with Keith’s very grounded issues • An unlikely hero trying to do the right thing • The chemistry and growing understanding between Keith and Manton
Keith Kanga/Manton
From the initial rescue, to Manton trying to cockblock Keith (read: keep him from getting scammed), to the growing ease between them on the adventure and that lovely little moment on the balcony, I adore every panel these two have shared. I like the idea of them making a formidable team because of their differences, but also the idea of Keith eventually feeling safe enough to be more sincere around someone as honest and loyal as Manton.
• Creator's choice of whatever you think would have happened in volume 2 had the series not gone on hiatus.
• Having reached Earth and either already saved it or in the process of saving it, Keith needs to help Manton pass for human. The results are not at all what he expected.
• Somewhere along their journey while their attraction is still unspoken, circumstances force Keith and Manton to pretend to be a couple.
• When Manton is injured, it's up to Keith to take on the role of protector and keep them both alive in a ludicrously dangerous wilderness.

I fell in love with Zeus from the first panels of "Passchendaele"—and as soon as I realized his relationship to Andy, I knew I’d need all the fic. I’m willing to gamble with this request if you are. By which I mean, please feel free to consider this request to also be "Andy & Yitzhak & Zeus" if anything comes up in the next two issues of Tales Through Time that you want to throw in.
• Zeus’s first year with his new mother is a strange but happy one.
• Andy has to take a very young Zeus into harm’s way with her on a mission. Things don’t go as expected.

• While infiltrating a household for a mission, the four need to pretend to be two straight married couples. Chaos and/or a comedy of errors ensue.
• Creator's choice of a mission set anytime between Joe and Nicky's first deaths and Noriko's disappearance.
• Different times, different circumstances: a comparison of Andy and Noriko's earliest days together and Nicky and Joe's.
• Outsider PoV: an original character serving alongside or living/traveling with the four realizes something is different about them and goes to great lengths to figure out what.
Joe/Nicky
I fell for these two from the first panel of them holding hands on the helicopter, and pretty much everything since—from their chat in captivity, to the way they worked Copley in the Tiki lounge, to "Lacus Solitudinis" and especially "Love Letters"—just dug the hole deeper. Not to mention that image of Joe helping Nicky up off the battlefield, fresh off their final attempt to murder each other. I’d love to see more of their shared history together, or their future.
• Nicky and Joe attempt to pay Andy a visit in Australia after the dreams of Booker begin, only to end up diverted by sea or land, trekking through unfamiliar territory to reach her.
• A mission set in the creator’s favourite city, in any time period.
• Soon after getting their first automobile, Joe and Nicky embark on a road trip and encounter more than a few surprises along the way.
• After a particularly troubling set of missions, Joe and Nicky take a few months off to rest and reconnect, and get involved in some gentler adventures.

Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini/Lorenzo Orsini
There’s nothing about their backstory that I’m not weak for: meeting for the first time as adults and feeling a connection, Lorenzo patiently inviting Gigi into his life, Gigi standing up to his father and the aftermath. Or about their present for that matter, with the younger brother ending up the patriarch and the elder brother his odd, quiet cupbearer. The way Lorenzo immediately understands the whys of Gigi’s actions and the way Gigi is tuned into everything from Lorenzo’s drinking pace to his eyesight. I’m happy for background Gigi/Lorenzo/Olga, consensual non-monogamy, or something set before Olga came into the picture.
• The more Lorenzo keeps 'happening' to run into Gigi shortly after their first meeting, the more it begins to feel like wooing a lover instead of trying to talk to a brother. Everything changes when he realizes his motivations weren’t what he thought they were.
• What really happened when Gigi returned to Torino after his uncle’s death, and how Lorenzo got him back.
• Opening their first restaurant together proves to be a transformative experience.
• Lorenzo wants nothing more than for his brother to be happy. So why is he so jealous when what seems like the perfect man sets his sights on Gigi?
• The two take a trip somewhere where no one knows them, and their relationship is irrevocably changed when everyone assumes they’re a couple rather than brothers.
Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini/Luciano De Luca
"Un Giro con Gigi" made me ship it. I really like their easy relationship, particularly the way Luciano's grumpiness seems to dial back in the face of Gigi's silence, and the way they're both so quietly sweet with Franc. Maybe falling in love with a man seems like slightly less of a betrayal to his wife's memory for Luciano, or maybe it's just different when it's growing slowly out of a friendship.
• Franc inadvertently plays matchmaker when his day out with Gigi is so enjoyable that he starts encouraging his grandfather to invite Gigi to more and more outings.
• A series of events or assumptions leads to Luciano implying that Gigi is his boyfriend in order to fend off advances from widows and divorcées. Things take an unexpected turn when he’s either expected to produce Gigi for a date or realizes that their outings together are already very close to the real thing.
• The universe seems to be sending Luciano a message through music/theatre when he and Gigi attend a season’s worth of concerts/plays together.
• Luciano and Gigi met long before Luciano was hired at the restaurant. Multiple times, in fact, as life has had a funny way of throwing them together over the decades.
• Repair work at Luciano’s home sees him in need of a place to stay temporarily. Not particularly wishing to live with his son-in-law for weeks, he’s pleased to accept an offer from Gigi—only for unexpected feelings to come to a head while they’re cohabiting.
Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini/Original Male Character
Gigi is a tough match, with his odd manner and his reservations about becoming involved with anyone, but I just want to see him with someone who would make him happy and appreciate him for exactly who he is. Younger suitors are more than welcome.

Grakker/Snout
I was delighted to recently revisit this series and realize that Grakker/Snout was even more overtly canon than I’d picked up on as a kid. Sharing a private bedroom and a special psychic link, not to mention everything going on in the background later in the series with Snout's return and his ex... It all calls for a deeper dive!
• Slow burn get-together, from Grakker’s not-so-complimentary first impressions of Snout, to teaming up with their suspicions about BKR, to falling in love.
• The bond they share is a serious undertaking that requires serious preparation and culminates in a private ritual and/or public celebration, the journey to which proves even more complicated—or surprisingly simpler and more expedient—than expected.
• When his captain is captured, Snout stops at nothing to get him back safely.
• So, since Grakker/Snout is a nod to Kirk/Spock...how about a nod to ponn farr? Whether it’s Snout’s first mating season, leading to the events that broke him from his betrothed and saw him bonded to Grakker, or the crew battening down the hatches as Snout starts chasing the captain around the ship again, what does it look like Snout loses control?
• Snout’s comments about love in Aliens Stole My Body hint at how things will be resolved, but what does it really look like as he and Grakker come back as a couple from Snout’s disappearance and reluctance to return.

Geoffrey M'Benga/Original Male Vulcan
Despite only appearing in a couple of episodes, Doctor M'Benga made a big impression on me. I love how on a ship full of humans who often still struggle with how to speak to and socialize with members of other peoples, he went right ahead and did his internship on another planet. I'm not up on all the novels he appears in, but I liked the idea in one of them that he ended up retiring on Vulcan—just for the notion that he genuinely enjoyed his time there and found that the culture suited him, and that he settled down with a Vulcan spouse. I'm fine with either Geoffrey or Jabilo as his chosen name.
• Fall in love while doing his internship on Vulcan - focus on then or on long-distance while on Enterprise
• M'Benga introduces his new love interest/partner to Earth - or meets him when he's visiting Earth for the first time.
• Geoffrey M'Benga, master of Vulcan courtship. (Feel free to interpret sincerely or tongue-in-cheek.)

Things I Love About This Canon: The sensibility, plots and worldbuilding of the comics and the videos • Ridiculous humour balanced with characters you can care deeply about • Over the top but ‘harmless’ cartoon violence (like Medic’s surgeries or Soldier getting his hand lopped off) • A diverse group with complementary skills forced to work as a team in a remote and isolated location • The alternate history 1960s and 1970s, with the retrofuturism elements • Characters who are ultra-competent in some ways and complete failboats in others
Scout/Sniper
I love Scout and Sniper's team-up in End of the Line: Sniper on watch while Scout goes a little stir-crazy, Sniper behind the wheel while Scout is scrambling out of the truck window. I like the idea of Sniper being laid-back enough to appreciate Scout sometimes being, well, Scout, and introducing him to some moderating effects of sex and drugs (and maybe rock and roll if there's any getting Scout over Tom Jones).
• Scout joins Sniper for a cross-country road trip on furlough, serving as a (dubiously informed) tour guide for America while being introduced to Sniper's particular brand of bushcraft and recreational hallucinogens along the way.
• AU: Scout and Sniper first meet and get together long before the badlands. Sometime in the early to mid '60s, Sniper accepts a contract killing in Boston. The job hits a hitch when he picks up an unexpected hanger-on in the form of a very fast young loudmouth who thinks he has an awesome camper. (18+ Scout is good, underage teenage Scout is also good.)
• Something goes awry when Scout and Sniper are at or returning from the outpost featured in End of the Line. With communications down due to the weather and with enemies, an injury, or low supplies to grapple with, the two need to work together like never before in order to survive.
• Sniper has his eye on a side job with a lot of money or maybe his pride on the line. The only problem? To either secure the contract or get at his target, he needs to turn up with a boyfriend. And Scout is the only one volunteering for an undercover job.
• Look, Scout is great at sex. Really. But if, let's say, he's noticed that the ladies leaving Sniper's camper actually come back the next day, would it hurt to get some pointers? i.e. Sniper gives Scout sex lessons and feelings get caught.
Medic/Scout
So, Scout likes classy brunet(te)s who smell good and can read and always have their glasses on kind of crooked. I want that brunet to be Medic. For his part, while Medic might not appreciate having keys tossed at him, I’d like to think he could be a fan of Scout’s enthusiasm—and youthful energy—if they ever got on the same page about something.
• A series of misunderstandings lead Scout’s Ma to assume he’s gay, and she’s so unexpectedly proud and supportve that he can’t bear to break her heart. If he’s going to bring home a fake boyfriend, why not go all out and bring home a doctor?
• Everyone agrees that Medic would be a lot less experiment-happy if he just got laid every once in a while. While snooping through Medic’s room to find out what his type is, Scout discovers a stash of surprisingly relevant-to-his-interests pornography that convinces him to take one for the team.
• AU: Scout and Medic first meet and get together long before the badlands. Sometime in the early to mid '60s, Medic accepts a contract killing in Boston. The job hits a hitch when he picks up an unexpected hanger-on in the form of a very fast young loudmouth who thinks he’s sophisticated and badass. (18+ Scout is good, underage teenage Scout is also good.)
• Scout discovers that Medic used to be a track star, but he’s slow to realize that it’s not just a competitive streak that makes him want to work out with him and see the guy in action.
• The two are forced to take one of Miss Pauling’s contracts together, and against all expectations they find they work exceedingly well together.

Mark Markz/Kev Kevz
I know we only get a glimpse of Kev Kevz as a construct, but I’m really into the idea of Mark having a fellow Martian with whom to explore Earth and discover its freedoms. I'm primarily interested in any kind of AU where their relationship has a chance.
• AU: Kev was someone that Mark really knew on Mars, or alternatively, the constructed world he existed in continued peacefully. Either way, Kev and Mark go to the Earth together and build a life for themselves there as they learn more about the inhabitants.
• AU: Instead of falling in love with Paul, Mark meets another intriguing stranger in Rockwood who turns out to be a fellow Martian living undercover on Earth.
• AU: Kev Kevz was real and likewise fled Mars for Earth sometime after Mark did but well before the fight with Anti-God. After landing in Spiral City, he meets Mark, who’s already settled into his double life as Barbalien and his alter ego.
Miguel Cruz/Mark Markz
Miguel is one of my favourite Black Hammer characters, and his arc Barbalien: Red Planet was amazing. His relationship with Mark and its effect on him broke my heart in the best of ways, and it would be great to get some fic to help tape the pieces back together. The prompts below are pretty much all for alternative takes on how things could have gone down, but any fleshing out of their time together in canon or speculation of some future reunion would also be wonderful.
• AU: Mark and Miguel reunite at the end of Barbalien: Red Planet, setting off a new chain of events that averts the outcome of the fight against Anti-God.
• AU: In a universe where the battle against Anti-God never happens/happened, Mark and Miguel reunite some years after their parting when Miguel makes the news again.
• AU: The injuries Mark sustains in Barbalien: Red Planet include a case of temporary amnesia. Forgetting his true identity, he carries on dating Miguel as “Luke” until his past catches up with him.
• AU: “Luke” doesn’t start seeing Miguel—Barbalien does. After their first meeting, the two get to know each other with the full knowledge of Mark’s Martian nature and life as a superhero.
Sherlock Frankenstein/Gail Gibbons
I can’t remember the last time I fell so quickly for a romantic canon getting-together than that scene of Gail shifting into her real body, walking up to Sherlock, grabbing him by the tie and kissing him (while informing him that she’s always been into weird-looking dudes). I’m fascinated by the thought of how her interest formed, with him having been her nemesis from her teenage years on, and I love that the glimpses we got of a relationship between a ghoul of a former supervillain and a hardbitten heroine were so sweet.
• Coming of age as a superhero whose powers are tied to a prepubescent body is tough enough. Realizing you might have a thing for an immortal Victorian ghoul who keeps trying to take over the city is a whole other kettle of fish.
• Gail eventually notices that her nastiest and most violent enemies have a strange tendency to go missing after crossing the line with her. She begins to suspect that Sherlock Frankenstein has had a hand in their fate.
• Five times Sherlock Frankenstein captured Golden Gail, and one time she captured him.
• AU: Gail was brought to Rockwood in her natural form, and Sherlock was brought with her. Together, the two investigate their strange new home.
• AU: Sherlock finds a solution for restoring the heroes to Spiral City and safely bringing Gail back to him.
Skulldigger/Original Male Civilian
All the themes of intergenerational trauma in Skulldigger + Skeleton Boy hit me square in the feelings, and while I appreciate the storytelling note that canon ended on, I definitely want some softer fic where this ultra-violent demonic vigilante with the awful childhood and doomed adolescence gets some genuine love in his life.

• The owner of a neighbouring business

8) AU: Cloud is a Selkie. Zack, Tifa, and/or Barret find him on the shore of the cold, wild sea. Maybe he’s injured, maybe he’s lost his seal skin, maybe something else happened. Whatever it is, it prevents Cloud from flipping them off and going back to the sea immediately.

Seriously, get your freak on and explore the darker side of Hyrule. I don’t need a happy ending, but something bittersweet or hopeful would be nice.
8) AU: Modern Equestrian. Zelda rides english. Hunter, jumper, dressage, or eventing? Your choice. Want to throw in field hunter or vaulting for fun, go for it. Link rides western. Relaxed trail and ranch work or rodeo… or both. He can also shoot (gun or bow) from horseback. Somehow they meet. Maybe it’s at a renaissance fair, with jousting or cosplay. Maybe Link ends up at a barn Zelda rides at. Maybe the ranch Link works on is struggling so they open up a bed and breakfast and Zelda comes to stay. Maybe they end up on a team in some endurance race. Whatever you come up with, I’d like them to be friends at the end.
9) AU: Modern Farm boy/City girl. Zelda and Link can really be opposites of each other sometimes. How would they met? Who would their friends be? Calvin’s backstory breaks my heart, and all I want is for him to save the world so he and the kind, gentle man who made him feel safe get to be together again. I’m not married to any description, design or backstory for João, but if you’re looking for a jumping-off point, I’ve previously pictured him as a slight, dapper Afro-Brazilian man a little older than Calvin who relocated to Buenos Aires for the art scene.
• Worried sick and having finally found a lead, João tracks Calvin down and shows up in Arkham for an unexpected reunion.
• Calvin was not expecting to have his entire life changed by a painting, let alone by the man who painted it. What happened in those early days in Buenos Aires?
• After having saved the world and returned home to João, Calvin encounters a different kind of supernatural mystery.
• One of the other investigators joins Calvin for his trip home to Buenos Aires, or tries to find him after their shared adventures in Arkham.
• Calvin and João are happily reunited, but Calvin is carrying fresh injuries or bad memories that make readjusting to life together more difficult than he hoped. (Happy or hopeful ending preferred here.)
Stella Clark/"Skids" O'Toole
These are two of my favourite investigators, and I just like the idea of them being opposites on the surface (a Survivor-class civil servant and a Rogue of a former bank robber) who overlap on a shared sense of duty to the truth and to others. Also, with Skids coming across as a pretty sophisticated guy who’s spent time in some diverse and marginal spaces, it’s easy to assume he doesn’t need to be brought up to speed about some people being a different gender than they were formally assumed to be. Likewise, while I imagine Stella’s a generally law-abiding woman, I can see her having empathy for someone who committed nonviolent crimes to pay his mother’s hospital bills.
• The two meet cute in a mundane situation and each find it increasingly hard to hide the insane-sounding horrors they’re investigating from this completely normal new love interest.
• Stella starts finding letters addressed to a stranger named [creator’s chosen first name for Skids] O’Toole at the bottom of her mailbag each day, which appear to be from his mother.
• Skids and Stella take a trip to the big city—Boston, New York, Chicago, etc.—for business or pleasure, only to hit an unexpected snag.
• The trials of trying to date/propose/get married in Arkham, MA.
• For reasons related to an investigation, Skids has to teach Stella how to carry out a break-in.

Note: My prompts run a tad shorter and vaguer here because just getting characters from two different properties together tends to be a story in and of itself. I don’t mind jumping into a story where the characters have already met if you’ve got your own plot in mind, but I’m also very happy to have most of the story focus on the quasi-outsider POV of meeting each other, learning about each other’s world and friends, and getting together.
Frank Castle/Peter Parker
Seeing Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland together in Pilgrimage immediately gave me a serious craving for this pairing, with some of the same dynamics carrying over of an older warrior with PTSD forming a protective attachment to a younger, more idealistic hero. Feel free to go with a high school aged Peter or something set further down the road, and feel free to include the major plot events of the TV show and movies or gloss over them as needed.
• Pursuing the same villain leads to an unexpected team-up, an unexpected rescue, and an even more unexpected connection.
• Frank and Peter meet in their civilian lives. Only one of them—or neither—realizes that the other is a vigilante too.
• Running into The Punisher (or Frank Castle) for the first time proves to be a formative experience for Peter. When pictures and videos of similar-looking guys online fail to satisfy, Peter engages in a teensy bit of light stalking.
Hannibal Lecter/Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini
Hannibal would certainly find his way to a hidden gem of a restaurant in Rome, and I’m sure he would be very intrigued by an odd, intensely observant sommelier like Gigi who has an exceptional palate and knack for reading people. I’d like for Gigi to get out of whatever happens alive and without any serious scars, but avoiding emotional trauma because he’s Gigi as opposed to because he avoided the full brunt of Hannibal’s insanity is a-okay with me.
• Gigi moonlights on occasion to select the wine for private events. When sampling the cooking of a visiting doctor holding a series of dinner parties, he becomes fixated on finding the perfect accompaniment for something he’s never tasted before.
• Once a year (or whatever interval), a customer from America comes to the restaurant and dines with Gigi. Speculation runs rampant among the rest of the staff.
• Gigi really did kill his father and has since on occasion poisoned others who threaten the happiness of his loved ones. Hannibal discovers this and is smitten.
Hannibal Lecter/Medic
It might take a little nudging of the timeline, or the assumption that all that Australium exposure and his deal with the devil keep Medic spry until the end of his life, but I can’t help wanting to see these two together. A couple of devilish former surgeons with very loose interpretations of the Hippocratic Oath? They would get along like a house on fire—which is to say, there may be few survivors.
• While at John Hopkins, Hannibal is mentored by a cheerful older surgeon who proves to be more than he appears. (Alternatively, a canon-era Hannibal is visited in Baltimore by his former mentor.)
• Hannibal targets an obnoxious German tourist for the butcher block, only to find the tables turned.
• Hannibal and Medic meet at a medical convention. Chaos ensues.

Aberforth Dumbledore/Severus Snape
I will readily ship Severus Snape with any older man in whistling distance, but make it a gruff and worldworn one who—like him—has extremely complicated feelings about Albus Dumbledore and I’m doubly sold. Given the places where their stories overlap, I really like the idea of them having some sort of cynical but all-too-understanding arrangement behind the scenes. I’m open to underage if you want to go there, and a canon timeline or an AU ending where Snape lives. I’m also open to some brief mentions of past one-sided Snape/Lily if the plot calls for it, although I’m also more than up for a gay Snape whose attachment to Lily was more aspirational.
• Whether out of necessity, academic curiosity, or a thirst for power, Severus becomes interested in learning a niche variety of magic that Aberforth has mastered.
• The scrutiny of running errands or even having a moment to oneself in Hogsmeade as a Hogwarts professor is too much for young Professor Snape. He begins occasionally having a drink at the Hog’s Head in disguise, and under an assumed name ends up entangled with the landlord.
• AU: Having survived the events of Deathly Hallows, Severus is at loose ends and finds an unexpected fresh start with Aberforth.
• A young Severus abruptly leaves home between school years, or just upon leaving Hogwarts, and gains employment at the Hog’s Head.
• After Albus’s death, Aberforth and Severus secretly remain in contact throughout the second rise of Voldemort.
Argus Filch/Severus Snape
As mentioned above, it doesn’t take much to sell me on shipping Severus Snape with an older man, but this one gets a bonus for segueing so smoothly into the realm of daddy issues and complicated power dynamics. You’ve got Severus, who grew up with a magic-less but intimidating working class father, then Argus who starts off as a marginal authority figure in his student days and then becomes someone he gives orders to as a teacher. Ditto the Aberforth request above re: underage, canon timeline or AU, and Snape/Lily.
• During his first year of teaching, Severus discovers that there's more to the caretaker than he assumed as a student. Alternatively, Argus gains a new admiration for Severus when he returns as a teacher.
• While Severus is poking around in Argus’s office or Argus is repairing something in Severus’s room, one of them discovers unexpected evidence of a shared interest (vanilla or otherwise.
• AU: Having survived the events of Deathly Hallows, Severus is at loose ends and finds an unexpected fresh start with Argus.
• A student-aged Severus discovers that detentions with Mr. Filch can be more interesting than he ever would have guessed.
• Severus is in need of a guinea pig for a potions experiment. Argus volunteers, but the experiment goes awry with an unexpected side effect.

Keith Kanga/Manton
From the initial rescue, to Manton trying to cockblock Keith (read: keep him from getting scammed), to the growing ease between them on the adventure and that lovely little moment on the balcony, I adore every panel these two have shared. I like the idea of them making a formidable team because of their differences, but also the idea of Keith eventually feeling safe enough to be more sincere around someone as honest and loyal as Manton.
• Creator's choice of whatever you think would have happened in volume 2 had the series not gone on hiatus.
• Having reached Earth and either already saved it or in the process of saving it, Keith needs to help Manton pass for human. The results are not at all what he expected.
• Somewhere along their journey while their attraction is still unspoken, circumstances force Keith and Manton to pretend to be a couple.
• When Manton is injured, it's up to Keith to take on the role of protector and keep them both alive in a ludicrously dangerous wilderness.
• Manton attempts to formally court Keith in the manner of his people—or alternatively in what he thinks is the manner of Keith's people. A comedy of errors ensues.

I fell in love with Zeus from the first panels of "Passchendaele"—and as soon as I realized his relationship to Andy, I knew I’d need all the fic. I’m willing to gamble with this request if you are. By which I mean, please feel free to consider this request to also be "Andy & Yitzhak & Zeus" if anything comes up in the next two issues of Tales Through Time that you want to throw in.
• Zeus’s first year with his new mother is a strange but happy one.
• Andy has to take a very young Zeus into harm’s way with her on a mission. Things don’t go as expected.

I fell for these two from the first panel of them holding hands on the helicopter, and pretty much everything since—from their chat in captivity, to the way they worked Copley in the Tiki lounge, to "Lacus Solitudinis" and especially "Love Letters"—just dug the hole deeper. Not to mention that image of Joe helping Nicky up off the battlefield, fresh off their final attempt to murder each other. I’d love to see more of their shared history together, or their future.
• Nicky and Joe attempt to pay Andy a visit in Australia after the dreams of Booker begin, only to end up diverted by sea or land, trekking through unfamiliar territory to reach her.
• A mission set in the creator’s favourite city, in any time period.
• Soon after getting their first automobile, Joe and Nicky embark on a road trip and encounter more than a few surprises along the way.

Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini/Lorenzo Orsini
There’s nothing about their backstory that I’m not weak for: meeting for the first time as adults and feeling a connection, Lorenzo patiently inviting Gigi into his life, Gigi standing up to his father and the aftermath. Or about their present for that matter, with the younger brother ending up the patriarch and the elder brother his odd, quiet cupbearer. The way Lorenzo immediately understands the whys of Gigi’s actions and the way Gigi is tuned into everything from Lorenzo’s drinking pace to his eyesight. I’m happy for background Gigi/Lorenzo/Olga, consensual non-monogamy, or something set before Olga came into the picture.
• The more Lorenzo keeps 'happening' to run into Gigi shortly after their first meeting, the more it begins to feel like wooing a lover instead of trying to talk to a brother. Everything changes when he realizes his motivations weren’t what he thought they were.
• What really happened when Gigi returned to Torino after his uncle’s death, and how Lorenzo got him back.
• Opening their first restaurant together proves to be a transformative experience.
• Lorenzo wants nothing more than for his brother to be happy. So why is he so jealous when what seems like the perfect man sets his sights on Gigi?
• The two take a trip somewhere where no one knows them, and their relationship is irrevocably changed when everyone assumes they’re a couple rather than brothers.
Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini/Luciano De Luca
"Un Giro con Gigi" made me ship it. I really like their easy relationship, particularly the way Luciano's grumpiness seems to dial back in the face of Gigi's silence, and the way they're both so quietly sweet with Franc. Maybe falling in love with a man seems like slightly less of a betrayal to his wife's memory for Luciano, or maybe it's just different when it's growing slowly out of a friendship.
• Franc inadvertently plays matchmaker when his day out with Gigi is so enjoyable that he starts encouraging his grandfather to invite Gigi to more and more outings.
• A series of events or assumptions leads to Luciano implying that Gigi is his boyfriend in order to fend off advances from widows and divorcées. Things take an unexpected turn when he’s either expected to produce Gigi for a date or realizes that their outings together are already very close to the real thing.
• The universe seems to be sending Luciano a message through music/theatre when he and Gigi attend a season’s worth of concerts/plays together.
• Luciano and Gigi met long before Luciano was hired at the restaurant. Multiple times, in fact, as life has had a funny way of throwing them together over the decades.
• Repair work at Luciano’s home sees him in need of a place to stay temporarily. Not particularly wishing to live with his son-in-law for weeks, he’s pleased to accept an offer from Gigi—only for unexpected feelings to come to a head while they’re cohabiting.
Gian Luigi "Gigi" Orsini/Original Male Character
Gigi is a tough match, with his odd manner and his reservations about becoming involved with anyone, but I just want to see him with someone who would make him happy and appreciate him for exactly who he is. Younger suitors are more than welcome.
• A food critic who unintentionally reveals his crush on Gigi in a restaurant review
• An artist who starts secretly sketching him at a venue they both frequent
• A neighbour who finds him mysterious
• Someone equally eccentric whom Gigi regularly encounters on his annual vacation

I was delighted to recently revisit this series and realize that Grakker/Snout was even more overtly canon than I’d picked up on as a kid. Sharing a private bedroom and a special psychic link, not to mention everything going on in the background later in the series with Snout's return and his ex... It all calls for a deeper dive!
• Slow burn get-together, from Grakker’s not-so-complimentary first impressions of Snout, to teaming up with their suspicions about BKR, to falling in love.
• The bond they share is a serious undertaking that requires serious preparation and culminates in a private ritual and/or public celebration, the journey to which proves even more complicated—or surprisingly simpler and more expedient—than expected.
• When his captain is captured, Snout stops at nothing to get him back safely.
• So, since Grakker/Snout is a nod to Kirk/Spock...how about a nod to ponn farr? Whether it’s Snout’s first mating season, leading to the events that broke him from his betrothed and saw him bonded to Grakker, or the crew battening down the hatches as Snout starts chasing the captain around the ship again, what does it look like Snout loses control?
• Snout’s comments about love in Aliens Stole My Body hint at how things will be resolved, but what does it really look like as he and Grakker come back as a couple from Snout’s disappearance and reluctance to return.

Geoffrey M'Benga/Original Male Vulcan
Despite only appearing in a couple of episodes, Doctor M'Benga made a big impression on me. I love how on a ship full of humans who often still struggle with how to speak to and socialize with members of other peoples, he went right ahead and did his internship on another planet. I'm not up on all the novels he appears in, but I liked the idea in one of them that he ended up retiring on Vulcan—just for the notion that he genuinely enjoyed his time there and found that the culture suited him, and that he settled down with a Vulcan spouse. I'm fine with either Geoffrey or Jabilo as his chosen name.
• Fall in love while doing his internship on Vulcan - focus on then or on long-distance while on Enterprise

Things I Love About This Canon: The sensibility, plots and worldbuilding of the comics and the videos • Ridiculous humour balanced with characters you can care deeply about • Over the top but ‘harmless’ cartoon violence (like Medic’s surgeries or Soldier getting his hand lopped off) • A diverse group with complementary skills forced to work as a team in a remote and isolated location • The alternate history 1960s and 1970s, with the retrofuturism elements • Characters who are ultra-competent in some ways and complete failboats in others
Scout/Sniper
I love Scout and Sniper's team-up in End of the Line: Sniper on watch while Scout goes a little stir-crazy, Sniper behind the wheel while Scout is scrambling out of the truck window. I like the idea of Sniper being laid-back enough to appreciate Scout sometimes being, well, Scout, and introducing him to some moderating effects of sex and drugs (and maybe rock and roll if there's any getting Scout over Tom Jones).
• Scout joins Sniper for a cross-country road trip on furlough, serving as a (dubiously informed) tour guide for America while being introduced to Sniper's particular brand of bushcraft and recreational hallucinogens along the way.
• AU: Scout and Sniper first meet and get together long before the badlands. Sometime in the early to mid '60s, Sniper accepts a contract killing in Boston. The job hits a hitch when he picks up an unexpected hanger-on in the form of a very fast young loudmouth who thinks he has an awesome camper. (18+ Scout is good, underage teenage Scout is also good.)
• Something goes awry when Scout and Sniper are at or returning from the outpost featured in End of the Line. With communications down due to the weather and with enemies, an injury, or low supplies to grapple with, the two need to work together like never before in order to survive.
• Sniper has his eye on a side job with a lot of money or maybe his pride on the line. The only problem? To either secure the contract or get at his target, he needs to turn up with a boyfriend. And Scout is the only one volunteering for an undercover job.
• Look, Scout is great at sex. Really. But if, let's say, he's noticed that the ladies leaving Sniper's camper actually come back the next day, would it hurt to get some pointers? i.e. Sniper gives Scout sex lessons and feelings get caught.
Medic/Scout
So, Scout likes classy brunet(te)s who smell good and can read and always have their glasses on kind of crooked. I want that brunet to be Medic. For his part, while Medic might not appreciate having keys tossed at him, I’d like to think he could be a fan of Scout’s enthusiasm—and youthful energy—if they ever got on the same page about something.
• A series of misunderstandings lead Scout’s Ma to assume he’s gay, and she’s so unexpectedly proud and supportve that he can’t bear to break her heart. If he’s going to bring home a fake boyfriend, why not go all out and bring home a doctor?
• Everyone agrees that Medic would be a lot less experiment-happy if he just got laid every once in a while. While snooping through Medic’s room to find out what his type is, Scout discovers a stash of surprisingly relevant-to-his-interests pornography that convinces him to take one for the team.
• AU: Scout and Medic first meet and get together long before the badlands. Sometime in the early to mid '60s, Medic accepts a contract killing in Boston. Mark Markz/Kev Kevz
I know we only get a glimpse of Kev Kevz as a construct, but I’m really into the idea of Mark having a fellow Martian with whom to explore Earth and discover its freedoms. I'm primarily interested in any kind of AU where their relationship has a chance.
• AU: Kev was someone that Mark really knew on Mars, or alternatively, the constructed world he existed in continued peacefully. Either way, Kev and Mark go to the Earth together and build a life for themselves there as they learn more about the inhabitants.
• AU: Instead of falling in love with Paul, Mark meets another intriguing stranger in Rockwood who turns out to be a fellow Martian living undercover on Earth.
• AU: Kev Kevz was real and likewise fled Mars for Earth sometime after Mark did but well before the fight with Anti-God. After landing in Spiral City, he meets Mark, who’s already settled into his double life as Barbalien and his alter ego.
Miguel Cruz/Mark Markz
Miguel is one of my favourite Black Hammer characters, and his arc Barbalien: Red Planet was amazing. His relationship with Mark and its effect on him broke my heart in the best of ways, and it would be great to get some fic to help tape the pieces back together. The prompts below are pretty much all for alternative takes on how things could have gone down, but any fleshing out of their time together in canon or speculation of some future reunion would also be wonderful.
• AU: Mark and Miguel reunite at the end of Barbalien: Red Planet, setting off a new chain of events that averts the outcome of the fight against Anti-God.
• AU: In a universe where the battle against Anti-God never happens/happened, Mark and Miguel reunite some years after their parting when Miguel makes the news again.
• AU: The injuries Mark sustains in Barbalien: Red Planet include a case of temporary amnesia. Forgetting his true identity, he carries on dating Miguel as “Luke” until his past catches up with him.
• AU: “Luke” doesn’t start seeing Miguel—Barbalien does. After their first meeting, the two get to know each other with the full knowledge of Mark’s Martian nature and life as a superhero.
Sherlock Frankenstein/Gail Gibbons
I can’t remember the last time I fell so quickly for a romantic canon getting-together than that scene of Gail shifting into her real body, walking up to Sherlock, grabbing him by the tie and kissing him (while informing him that she’s always been into weird-looking dudes). I’m fascinated by the thought of how her interest formed, with him having been her nemesis from her teenage years on, and I love that the glimpses we got of a relationship between a ghoul of a former supervillain and a hardbitten heroine were so sweet.
• Coming of age as a superhero whose powers are tied to a prepubescent body is tough enough. Realizing you might have a thing for an immortal Victorian ghoul who keeps trying to take over the city is a whole other kettle of fish.
• Gail eventually notices that her nastiest and most violent enemies have a strange tendency to go missing after crossing the line with her. She begins to suspect that Sherlock Frankenstein has had a hand in their fate.
• Five times Sherlock Frankenstein captured Golden Gail, and one time she captured him.
• AU: Gail was brought to Rockwood in her natural form, and Sherlock was brought with her. Together, the two investigate their strange new home.
• AU: Sherlock finds a solution for restoring the heroes to Spiral City and safely bringing Gail back to him.
Skulldigger/Original Male Civilian
All the themes of intergenerational trauma in Skulldigger + Skeleton Boy hit me square in the feelings, and while I appreciate the storytelling note that canon ended on, I definitely want some softer fic where this ultra-violent demonic vigilante with the awful childhood and doomed adolescence gets some genuine love in his life.

• Someone rescued by Skulldigger more than once

6) AU: Degradation and Nibelheim never happened. Cloud, as Zack’s student, made SOLDIER. Something happens that makes Cloud, Zack, and/or Angeal question whether honor/pride/dreams are compatible with a company like Shinra. Answer: no. What do they do about it?
7): AU: Cloud is a professional chocobo jockey/motorcycle racer with a chip on his shoulder. Canon setting or not.
8) AU: Cloud is a Selkie. Zack, Tifa, and/or Barret find him on the shore of the cold, wild sea. Maybe he’s injured, maybe he’s lost his seal skin, maybe something else happened. Whatever it is, it prevents Cloud from flipping them off and going back to the sea immediately.
Separate time travel prompts because I’m a sucker for this trope:
1) Time Travel - Time-traveling Cloud (with or without his enhancements) is reborn as a twin to his past self. They don’t go to Shinra.
2) Time Travel - Time-traveling Cloud ends up fighting his younger self.
3) Time Travel - Time-traveling Cloud and Crisis Core Cloud as teenage cadets together.

2) BotW: Hetsu mentions that the Koroks like to pull pranks and play jokes. It would be fun to see them not only helping Link but also messing with him.
3) BotW: the Leviathans/great skeletons. Are there any legends or scholarly reports for Link and/or Zelda to find? Does Link have any faded memories or nostalgic feelings when looking at them? The skeletons seem to resemble Levias, the Wind Fish, and the Ocean King. Is there a fourth skeleton of Lord Jabu-Jabu under Lake Hylia or maybe Jabun along the coast?
4) TP: Post-game life in Ordon & Castle Town politics. Does Link go back to being a nobody or does he get dragged into politics? What is his relationship with Zelda? Break or don’t break the mirror. 1) Canon-style AU: Link being raised by another race, particularly the Sheikah, Gorons, Gerudo, Zora, Koroks, Kikwis, Rito, Mogma, Skull kids, or Twili. Just want to see what life might be like for a Link who grows up with one of these races.
2) Canon-style AU: Somehow Link ends up sealed inside the Master Sword and it’s up to Zelda to save the day. Link’s role here would be something similar to Fi from Skyward Sword.
3) AU: Cyberpunk. Link has Sheikah prosthetics. Keep it medieval, go to the far future, or anywhere in-between.
4) AU: Biopunk. What would malice or the “water” from the guidance stones be like in a Biopunk setting? What would Hyrule be like in a biopunk setting?
5) AU: Steampunk. Have an airship and explore sky islands. Loftwings optional. Skypirates?
6) AU: Clockworkpunk. Zelda studies at a University, Link has some sort of labor job at said school. After-hours he studies (unofficially) in the library/tinkers with stuff in a workshop. Zelda runs into him.
7) AU: Ghost story, Occult, Monster Horror, Survival Horror, Psychological Horror, Mystery, Survivalism, Dystopia. Legend of Zelda has some really good options for horror. Almost all games have ghosts, there are flying skulls and other Stal-enemies, zombie-like enemies, giant spiders, and random hands that will attack you. There are dark, shadow, twilight, and spirit realms. There has been mind control, dark visions, and dark versions of characters. Curses and war abound. Seriously, get your freak on and explore the darker side of Hyrule. I don’t need a happy ending, but something bittersweet or hopeful would be nice.
8) AU: Modern Equestrian. Zelda rides english. Hunter, jumper, dressage, or eventing? Your choice. Want to throw in field hunter or vaulting for fun, go for it. Link rides western. Relaxed trail and ranch work or rodeo… or both. He can also shoot (gun or bow) from horseback. Somehow they meet. Maybe it’s at a renaissance fair, with jousting or cosplay. Maybe Link ends up at a barn Zelda rides at. Maybe the ranch Link works on is struggling so they open up a bed and breakfast and Zelda comes to stay. Maybe they end up on a team in some endurance race. Whatever you come up with, I’d like them to be friends at the end.
9) AU: Modern Farm boy/City girl. Zelda and Link can really be opposites of each other sometimes. How would they met? Who would their friends be? Does Zelda visit the country, Link go to the city, do they travel back and forth? I’d like the story to end with them being friends or more. I’d also like to see some details of farm and city life in this.

3) William & Temeraire after the books: Temeraire in Parliament. Do they ever go back to Australia? Canada is part of the British empire and they have a reason to go there.
4) William & Temeraire: baby Temeraire is the most adorable and I love me some wooden ships. Expand on Temeraire’s infancy and Laurence’s dignified flailing as he tries to manage this tiny, ravenous, curious little beast while dealing with his changed circumstances aboard ship.
5) AU: Witch & Warlock. There are dragons, now let’s throw in some magic!
6) AU: Instead of the dragons being large, what if they were small?
7) A pirate dragon crew and/or a Dragon crew from the royal air corps sent to hunt a pirate dragon and its crew.

3) Tanuma’s Dad - he knows that Natsume is sensitive to spirits, I’d like to see a conversation between him and Natsume or Tanuma about it.
4) Natsume and his friends play a casual game of baseball. The Dog’s Circle watch and later want to play their own game.
5) Natsume, the little fox spirit, and a raccoon dog. What could go wrong?
