Works are due in less than a week at 11:59pm EST on 30 January (and see countdown.)
Editing & work standards
You can keep editing your work after you upload it (check your Stats page if you're not sure where to find it to edit it). The work that is in the collection on January 30 does not have to be your final version. However, it should be a good version. At deadline, anything uploaded must be a work that could go live without deeply embarrassing you or making your recipient wonder, "what were they planning for the [action scene here] bit?"
By deadline, your work needs to be fully posted rather than having "draft" status on AO3. If something is in your Drafts page on AO3, no one but you can access the work and your assignment will not show as fulfilled.
The rules for this exchange include: Works submitted to the collection must be complete, standalone, and meet a basic standard of spelling, grammar, accessibility, and formatting. It's not likely I'll need to reject any works on grounds of quality, but if I am concerned your recipient may not be able to read their story or comic, I will get in touch. If that worries you, consider enlisting the help of a beta reader.
Extensions
I am willing to consider small extensions, especially if you ask for them promptly. You don't need to give me a huge amount of detail - please just be realistic with yourself and me about your chances of completing your work and also polishing it before reveals. Contact me at mod.modzilla@gmail.com. If you are working on two half-length gifts for your recipient, at least one of them must be posted at the normal deadline. (Or, if you have a pinch hit that's due later, at the pinch hit deadline.)
On the topic of things that cause extensions, now is a great time to save an extra copy of your document somewhere. If something is in draft status on AO3, check the draft expiry date.
