What is it, in summary?
Richard Rider was an average high school student when
someone stole the plot of Green Lanternan alien crashed on earth and gave Richard his powers and which included being chosen to join an intergalactic peace keeping force, The Nova Corp. He joined the New Warriors and became a superhero on earth until the Annihilation Wave killed all the other Nova corp members, leaving Richard alone to stand guard over the universe. What do you love about it?
Watching Richard go from this kid who didn't really understand what he was being tasked with to this leader of armies and empires was really fun. The sweeping epic-ness of his story and the events he finds himself in the middle of was really exciting to read. Richard was a great character and the setting and situations he found himself as he struggled to protect the whole universe was really well done.
What sort of things are you likely to request for it?
tentacle porn - the man gets stuck in a dimension just full of evil tentacles for years. I want that tentacle porn.
Are there sections of canon (rather than the whole canon) that can be consumed by themselves to fulfil your requests?
Start with the Annihilation Saga and read Nova(2007) and that will probably be sufficient.
Content warnings (ie, rape, incest, racism, gore/violence) - this is at your discretion and is not expected to be comprehensive
A Reading list to help you navigate Nova's story:
A Man Called Nova (very skippable)
New Warriors Vol 1, 2, & 3 (very skippable)
Annihilation Saga (start here)
Nova (2007) (I recommend reading Guardians of the Galaxy (2007) along with this not necessary but it give you a better picture of space)
Event Comics from this period:
Annihilation Conquest
War Of Kings
Realm of Kings
The Thanos Imperative
Nova (2016)
Annihilation: Scourge
Guardians of the Galaxy (2020)
