Nominations are open! See the tag set. Nominations close at 11:59pm EDT on July 27.

Everyone starts with 7 fandoms to nominate and 5 characters or relationships per fandom. When nominations close on July 27, I'll tidy up the tag set, then re-open nominations with a smaller slate, during sign-ups, so that you can nominate things you forgot.

Please check this community before nominations end, because I'm bound to have questions about the nominations. If I don't get answers, I may mess up and approve them wrong.

FFFX is using the Fandom and the Character tag slots for nominations. Characters, relationships, and a Worldbuilding option can be nominated in the Character slot - please read further for how to format them.

In the Fandom field, you can enter a canonical or non-canonical fandom (yes, it's okay if there's no fic for it yet on AO3).

If you want to nominate a relationship, please enter it as Group: Character/Character (Fandom) (for romantic or sexual relationships) or Group: Character & Character (Fandom) (for platonic relationships).

The Group: part is is really important and helps future tag users.

The punctuation / and & is very important to indicate what sort of relationship it is.

Putting the fandom at the end of the nomination is really helpful to stop the tags misbehaving.

Larger groups are OK - ie, "Group: Character/Character & Character/Character" means you're asking for two sets of pairings who are doing something together or otherwise relate to each other.

If you want to nominate a character, just enter their name with the (Fandom) at the end. Some may even autocomplete. Original characters are also OK as long as you describe a character who could have existed in canon, such as "Original Force-sensitive Character (Star Wars Original Trilogy)".

If you want to nominate Worldbuilding for a canon, to offer or request it, please nominate it as "Other: Worldbuilding (Fandom)" (filling in the relevant fandom).


Some fandom notes:
Please separate out Marvel movies and separate TV shows - ie, Iron Man (Movies) rather than MCU.

Please nominate the Star Wars movies according to trilogy - no "Star Wars (All Media Types)".

Arrowverse TV shows and DCU and Marvel comics are discussed here.

"All Media Types" fandoms will probably be approved last, overall, because I'll want to see if there's a more specific version of the fandom that's in conflict. And I don't know many fandoms. So if you already know that All Media Types is what's right for your fandom, consider dropping me a comment to clarify so that I can confidently approve it faster.

Where you want to nominate a relationship between characters who appear in different fandoms, please nominate them under Crossover Fandom and include the fandom for each. For example: Group: Arya Stark (ASoIF)/Elsa (Frozen - Movies). Please be specific if the fandom name could refer to different versions and adaptations. You can ask for general crossovers between fandoms by nominating "Other: Worldbuilding (Fandom 1 & Fandom 2)"

You can also nominate characters and groups under Original Work. Please indicate the genders of the characters if that is important to you. If someone requests Original Work characters or relationships with ambiguous genders, the preference of the person requesting takes precedence over the preference of the person offering. (But you can ask to add a more specific version to the tag set during sign-ups if that is an issue.)

Unbanning & some round 2 statistics

If you defaulted, or failed to post a work, after November 16 last year, or if you did not comment on your gift (or both), you may not sign up to round 2. That is fixable, as you can comment on your gift - or discuss with me why that may be impossible - and post a make-up gift (or two half-gifts) to be unbanned. If you are posting two half-gifts, they don't have to be for the same request or even the same person. I especially encourage you to post a gift for a pinch hitter.

Some interesting stats:
-143 people signed up to round 1
-Of that number, 42 defaulted after mid-November or did not post; between this and 12 people not commenting on gifts, nearly 1/3 of the original participants are not (yet) eligible to sign up this round (so you may be in good company if you are not eligible! But please comment)
-131 accounts received gifts
-32 accounts that were not signed up created gifts. ♥

This is a good time to check if you left a placeholder comment on your gift. Or just to read it again, if you liked it.

Hello! I'm nominating Dangan Ronpa - All Media Types. This is how it was nominated last year; AMT is likely best for it because, while most of the main entries in the series are videogames, one of the main installments is an anime (Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy.) Hello! Are ships like Group: Guardians of the Galaxy/The Avengers accepted? I'm interested in a situation where two groups of characters meet, and I'm not picky about which characters or ships are focused on within the fic.

(The exact fandom is Kushiel's Legacy, with the ship being Group: Elua's Companions/Their D'Angeline Lovers, but I wasn't sure if you were familiar with that canon, hence the Marvel example.)

I am familiar with that canon and that nomination makes sense to me. Probably easier than The Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy, since it's not so clear - to me - from that example if a giant orgy is desired or just some combinations across the groups.

Out of curiosity, would you expect all eight companion angels to be major characters, or is it the sort of thing where as long as several of the angels' stories were expanded on, that would fulfil the spirit of the tag for you?

The latter, definitely! I wouldn't expect a focus on more than one or two angels, but I don't have a preference for which particular angels are major characters - just so long as a few of them are focused on. Does that make sense?

Sure. I'll try to think of a way to say that concisely (Author's Choice of... doesn't seem to quite work, because then you might get JUST one pairing) but if I can't think of something very clever, I'll approve it as you've put it here.

Yes, it qualifies, and something like "Orc Holmes and Watson - kriskukko" or "Grenada-style Holmes and Watson as Orcs - kriskukko (Tumblr Post)" would work.

Leverage: Redemption

How do you want Leverage: Redemption handled - as its own fandom or together with Leverage?

In case you need more information: Leverage ended in 2012 and there was no new canon until not quite two weeks ago (8 new episodes dropped 8 July, with another 8 being released at an unspecified date later in 2021) - I don't know if everyone who's into Leverage will have watched Redemption (either the currently released episodes or the ones to come, since they will be released during the writing period of this exchange), or whether there are people who've just watched Redemption who haven't seen the original series. There is some but not total overlap in main characters between the two series (four of the five main cast returned for Redemption, with another two being added), and some character dynamics have evolved through the series and in the 9-year gap between the series.

There are some differences between book series and movie trilogy but the most famous and widely consumed items of canon are book number one and movie number one, I really doubt that people have watched the third movie and even if they have, I have watched it too and am happy to get fanfic of that. Am happy to get fanfic of either books or movies really. I don’t anticipate anybody else nominating this fandom either

I was hoping to nominate "Arkham Horror Files" or any mod-suggested equivalent as an 'all media types' tag. It's the official umbrella term for multiple board/card games (full list here) and tie-in stories set in the same universe with an almost-but-not-quite-entirely overlapping cast of characters.

For The Philosopher's Flight by Tom Miller, I'm interested in nominating pairings like this:

Rescue and Evacuation Hoverer/Her Commanding Officer

but I'm happy for it to either be any existing character who is a Rescue and Evac Hoverer or an original Rescue and Evac Hoverer.

Would this be okay, and is there a way you prefer I word this?

Hi Mod!

My nomination for Uzumaki Naruto/Sai was approved as Group: Uzumaki Naruto/Yamanaka Sai (Naruto). While Yamanaka is eventually his canon surname, he only takes it when he marries his wife, which is after the main canon ends. This means he only uses Yamanaka in the sequel Boruto. I'll be requesting Naruto only, without anything from Boruto. Would it be possible to remove the Yamanaka and just keep his name in the tag as Sai instead?

Hello, trying to head off a potential nomination issue. I just nominated Witness for the Dead by Katherine Addison, and I noticed the pre-approval noms synned it to The Goblin Emperor - Katherine Addison. While the two books do take place in the same universe, there is only one continuous character between the two books, and they take place in very different parts of the world. I'd prefer if they were separate fandoms. Especially since Witness was very recently released - I wouldn't want to assume that anyone had read it just because they read the first book.

Hm, I see your point that someone who saw Worldbuilding and Thara in the tag set under Goblin Emperor might not also notice the Thara pairing tag. But I'm not sure how I feel about separating out the two books since they're so closely related. Would a series tag like Ethuveraz Series work?

I understand the reluctance, and Ethuveraz Series is preferable to just The Goblin Emperor.

I would still prefer to have the two books separate - I realistically don't think I could in good faith nominate the single character tag or worldbuilding and then have requests only for Witness. I'm also a little concerned the prompts would have spoilers for those that have read the Goblin Emperor but not Witness yet, but I suppose I could lead with SPOILERS in the prompts.

All that said, the pairing tag is the one I'm most invested in, so I won't be heartbroken if we go with the Ethuveraz Series, and hey, that'd let me add in Goblin Emperor noms if the spirit takes me. So fundamentally, I'm fine with either an umbrella series name or two separate fandoms.

After further thought I'm okay with Witness for the Dead as a separate title if that's still your preference, especially since Witness has come out so recently, and also I haven't read it and you have. I might lean towards Ethuveraz next year depending on other request & how the fandom treats it.

Hey! I just nominated Les Miserables (all media types). There are like a bunch of different canons for Les Mis (book/musical/movie) but a lot of people (inc me) generally just tag all their fic as 'all media types' given there's like a typical 'fanon' version of things which doesn't correspond exactly to any particular canon version.
