- The DLC ending where you actively help the Greenway intertwine with the Eye: what does it look like many (many, many) cycles later? Having the station's electrical system connected with the root and mycelium network of the Greenway sounds like brilliant madness, what effects are there further down the line? I'm curious to see a station that is genuinely alive in some manner. (This could also be combined with the 'Sleeper merges with the Gardener' ending!)
- The Maywick encounter ends differently: Sleeper ends up being taken into custody along with Ethan (as co-escort? tag-along? prisoner?). Ethan very belatedly develops regrets and a conscience when he sees the even more ruthless way Maywick treats his prisoner
- Sleeper's search for identity and getting an actual name, probably post-canon. Maybe they've been hanging on and surviving long enough that they actually start to accept that they have some kind of future here (which would be terrifying in a different way).
- In the game, you encounter another Sleeper who is almost dead and never really make contact with them. I would love to see a second chance at this post-canon: Sleeper is well-established on the Eye when a new Sleeper escapee arrives and they have to deal with a whole new host of problems when trying to protect them (and have to weigh the risk of how much to stick their neck out for them, when alerting the corporations to the fact that they're still alive and out there also puts them at risk)

- I've long yearned for something involving the Red Strings Club team running interference with an agent from Invisible Inc. trying to do recon in their city. Or, AIs from the two different cyberpunk games butting heads! What if the Invisible Inc. tries to pull a job involving that bar and Incognita or their hackers run up against Brandeis and Akara-184?

I am pretty agnostic concerning Robin's potential girlfriends - which is to say, I think Vickie's fun (and potentially more fun if she gets sucked into things in the 5th series), and the dynamic between Robin and Nancy is interesting, and there's lots of potential for what could have been in terms of Robin and Chrissy (parallel to Robin's interest in Tammy Thompson?) - and while we didn't get to see that much of Barb, what we did see...there seems like there could be potential there, y'know? Anyway, I love future-fic - as some of my opt-in choices may suggest - but am also very into things that explore how people's paths could have crossed outside of what we see in canon, canon-divergence AUs (obviously, given one of the pairings, haha), and just stuff that looks at what growing up/living in a small town (tho possibly county seat?) in the Midwest in the 70s/80s would've been like, as well. I'll admit up-front that I'm a bit at war with lots of popular fanon in this part of the fandom, so my preferred flavors of Steve and Eddie include: cool older friends/annoying older siblings to the younger kids; just kinda ordinary guys, who've been shaped by their extraordinary circumstances; not served well by school/academically inclined, but not stupid; not particularly suffering from long-term physical after-effects of their adventures; romantics with some hang-ups around romance (bad role models, bad experiences); not interested in anything formally kinky; having more musical taste overlap than might be expected (Eddie likes a good song whatever form it takes, 'whatever's on the radio' included a fair amount of metal of various stripes in the 80s). Honestly, the bit from MCR's 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' video hits a lot of Eddie notes for me: You like D&D, Audrey Hepburn, Fangoria, Harry Houdini, and croquet. You can't swim, you can't dance, and you don't know karate..., even if he can textually swim and probably isn't a croquet fan*. But so does Wayne's World, lol. While Steve's big notes for me are his physicality, his emotional intelligence, his grasp of tactics, and the effort he puts into his appearance and taking care of his car. Like, Eddie's a complicated plan kind of guy; Steve's grasp of tactics entirely derails that plan at the actual point of execution.

I love stories about people doing unexpected things - and if there's a group of more unexpected bobsledders than some Jamaican sprinters, I don't know who they'd be (presumably people from somewhere even flatter and hotter and not known for running, I guess, but specifically). And while the movie is, of course, a very Disney-fied version of actual events, I remember watching it back in the 90s and loving it - though I can't remember if I felt the same things about Junior and Yul's relationship then as I do now - and I still love it, despite its now more obvious weaknesses. Because the actors involved took the roles they were given and turned them into three-dimensional people who transcend the archetypes they're rooted in. And, in my opinion anyway, Yul and Junior totally steal the show in the background.
Yul is never going to get to own Buckingham Palace (though wouldn't it be amazing if he did?) - but does knowing that that's what it is put him off it forever? Or does it (eventually) make him want to visit it, just so he can say he's been inside? Or model some aspects of his (and Junior's) future home after it? Or build something even better? How might Junior make any of this happen? And backing up from that: do they intentionally stay in each other's lives after the Olympics? Or does it maybe start out as getting trotted around the country doing post-Olympics publicity stuff and accidentally turn into a habit? Or maybe they start drifting apart and then Junior finds himself in another situation where he's facing down his father and finding it difficult to say no, so he seeks out Yul - and things develop from there? Or, if you want to make it sexy, maybe they end up comforting each other with their bodies in the Olympic Village, after the crash cuts their race short, but decide that what happens at the Olympics stays at the Olympics (or does it?), more power to you. And relatedly, I'm into any interpretation of their sexualities you want to go with, from recent revelation to known forever but closeted, uncomfortable with themselves to regularly dancing with drag queens, gay or bi or undefined. And if you want to throw in any of the rest of the guys as secondary characters, go for it - after all, they were there, too.

The room shared by Prodigies B (Chris) and C (Mitch) ( WITH PRODIGY A LITERALLY LIVING IN THEiR CLOSET THE STEAM TUNNELS BENEATH THEIR DORM) movie! So you should A) absolutely feel free to get weird, here. Because Chris is down for that, for sure. But also I'd love a plot where *Mitch* learns to get creative and zany, and he's the one suggesting the wacky plot that leads to shenanigans (and also sex)! Just bring it on!
Whoops, I went and incepted myself into a pairing! Or, well, I'm not sure I even ship them as a long-term thing - though if you wanted to convince me of that, I'm definitely not opposed - mostly, I'm feeling an equal-opportunity, bi Sherry who isn't oblivious to what's right under her nose, but who might be about to have her mind blown anyway! And a Jordan who hadn't actually considered the question of girls previously, but discovers she's (more than) up to the challenge once the proposition's been made. Because, okay, if Jordan isn't exceptionally talented with her mouth, given the chance - and up for the challenge of (re)designing sex toys - and generally just the most enthusiastic (and energetic) partner you could ask for, well, that would be at least slightly surprising, given her everything.
And, okay, if you aren't up for writing 1000+ words of the porniest E-rated fic, I will be in no way disappointed! Promise. And that, in particular, you first met Z Berg via Ryan Ross and really started digging her interactions with him. And then you found out about the rest of her band and listened to their music and dug all of that, too. That's my journey, anyway. And, really, I love all members of The Like, past and present, and would love to read a story involving all of them being their crazy-ass selves or some awesome AU interpretation thereof. Seriously, they're awesome and I'm easy. I love that both Z and Tennessee are never anything less than unequivocally themselves, and always have been. Did I say friends who started a band together? Because here we go again, lol. With bonus ending up in some other guy's band (hi, Gabe) together. But also: these guys are my fav for wacky scenarios. Ryland pretends to be other characters. Alex cooks stuff. They get high and get sucked into Gabe schemes, drift apart and come back together. Maybe they fall into making some kind of silly online content together during lockdown (Alex does cooking show challenges using whatever he can find in his cupboards/convince a grocery store to deliver; Ryland transforms into a cooking show host with a silly accent and over-the-top personality, maybe)? Maybe they start writing music together again, but it's not This Is Ivy League music, or Cobras music, or anything else they've ever been...maybe there's been love there all along, but they just couldn't see it for the sunglasses and the drugs and the fame. Maybe they end up back in Florida for some reason and have to navigate coming back to where it all began, but feeling like completely different people...

And that did happen with this band, but this isn't the pairing for that. This is my fav oldest/youngest* band member pairing. Also, they're the rhythm section, which is another one of those intra-band bonds I love. But the best fics for them always had a sort of hazy glow of smoking up and lazing around in bed in late-morning sunshine about them. Flavored with a smidge of guilt on Butcher's part about 'seducing' (lol) his lead-singer's pseudo-little brother, and maybe some sense that they need to sneak around. Tbh, the age difference isn't that big (5 years! the same as between Gabe and Bilvy, or Pete and Patrick!), but SiskyBiz was DEFINiTELY underage when Bilvy started the band. So I'm also down for a bunch of pining while being in the same room (or even while fucking), missing each other while feeling like you just can't get much time together, Butcher not believing that Sisky is really trying to get his attention...or write current era fic where they're reconnecting and finding that the five years that felt like such a big deal when they were in their late teens/early twenties means nothing 20 years later!

The Antichrist raised to be the Most Normal Boy in England vs the perfectly normal boy raised by an Angel and a Demon to fail at being the Antichrist. There's a potential connection there, one that I've always found intriguing - and a certain...this isn't the exact same experience, but nobody else can quite understand it the way you can? There's no reason they'd particularly know about each other in the immediate aftermath of the Apocalypse that Wasn't (particularly back in the 90s, in the book canon timeline) - or even if they each somehow made the news, they certainly wouldn't seem important under the circumstances. But I like the idea of the universe bringing them together somehow. Running into each other at Uni. Finding each other online in 90s era usernet/messageboards/chatrooms. Somehow ending up penpals. And then realizing they have quite a bit in common, despite the differences in their upbringings, and developing a connection from that. Other GO characters are certainly welcome along for the ride, but I particularly like it if their discovering that they know these people in common is a fairly late-breaking reveal.

- The DLC ending where you actively help the Greenway intertwine with the Eye: what does it look like many (many, many) cycles later? Having the station's electrical system connected with the root and mycelium network of the Greenway sounds like brilliant madness, what effects are there further down the line? I'm curious to see a station that is genuinely alive in some manner. (This could also be combined with the 'Sleeper merges with the Gardener' ending!)
- The Maywick encounter ends differently: Sleeper ends up being taken into custody along with Ethan (as co-escort? tag-along? prisoner?). Ethan very belatedly develops regrets and a conscience when he sees the even more ruthless way Maywick treats his prisoner
- Sleeper's search for identity and getting an actual name, probably post-canon. Maybe they've been hanging on and surviving long enough that they actually start to accept that they have some kind of future here (which would be terrifying in a different way).
- In the game, you encounter another Sleeper who is almost dead and never really make contact with them. I would love to see a second chance at this post-canon: Sleeper is well-established on the Eye when a new Sleeper escapee arrives and they have to deal with a whole new host of problems when trying to protect them (and have to weigh the risk of how much to stick their neck out for them, when alerting the corporations to the fact that they're still alive and out there also puts them at risk)

I am pretty agnostic concerning Robin's potential girlfriends - which is to say, I think Vickie's fun (and potentially more fun if she gets sucked into things in the 5th series), and the dynamic between Robin and Nancy is interesting, and there's lots of potential for what could have been in terms of Robin and Chrissy (parallel to Robin's interest in Tammy Thompson?) - and while we didn't get to see that much of Barb, what we did see...there seems like there could be potential there, y'know? Robin digs a nerdy red-head.

I'll admit up-front that I'm a bit at war with lots of popular fanon in this part of the fandom, so my preferred flavors of Steve and Eddie include: cool older friends/annoying older siblings to the younger kids; just kinda ordinary guys, who've been shaped by their extraordinary circumstances; not served well by school/academically inclined, but not stupid; not particularly suffering from long-term physical after-effects of their adventures; romantics with some hang-ups around romance (bad role models, bad experiences); not interested in anything formally kinky; having more musical taste overlap than might be expected (Eddie likes a good song whatever form it takes, 'whatever's on the radio' included a fair amount of metal of various stripes in the 80s). Honestly, the bit from MCR's 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' video hits a lot of Eddie notes for me: You like D&D, Audrey Hepburn, Fangoria, Harry Houdini, and croquet. You can't swim, you can't dance, and you don't know karate..., even if he can textually swim and probably isn't a croquet fan*. But so does Wayne's World, lol. While Steve's big notes for me are his physicality, his emotional intelligence, his grasp of tactics, and the effort he puts into his appearance and taking care of his car. Like, Eddie's a complicated plan kind of guy; Steve's grasp of tactics entirely derails that plan at the actual point of execution.
Also: love future-fic - as some of my opt-in choices may suggest - but very into things that explore how people's paths could have crossed outside of what we see in canon, canon-divergence AUs (obviously, given the pairing, haha), and just stuff that looks at what growing up/living in a small town (tho possibly county seat?) in the Midwest in the 70s/80s would've been like, as well. I like plotty stuff and porny stuff - and humor, besides! I love it when fics allow them to be gross teenage boys/young men, aren't afraid of their tendencies towards bitchiness (Steve) and assholery (Eddie), and generally don't skip over the rough spots and warts of things between them.

I love stories about people doing unexpected things - and if there's a group of more unexpected bobsledders than some Jamaican sprinters, I don't know who they'd be (presumably people from somewhere even flatter and hotter and not known for running, I guess, but specifically). And while the movie is, of course, a very Disney-fied version of actual events, I remember watching it back in the 90s and loving it - though I can't remember if I felt the same things about Junior and Yul's relationship then as I do now - and I still love it, despite its now more obvious weaknesses. Because the actors involved took the roles they were given and turned them into three-dimensional people who transcend the archetypes they're rooted in. And, in my opinion anyway, Yul and Junior totally steal the show in the background.
Yul is never going to get to own Buckingham Palace (though wouldn't it be amazing if he did?) - but does knowing that that's what it is put him off it forever? Or does it (eventually) make him want to visit it, just so he can say he's been inside? Or model some aspects of his (and Junior's) future home after it? Or build something even better? How might Junior make any of this happen? And backing up from that: do they intentionally stay in each other's lives after the Olympics? Or does it maybe start out as getting trotted around the country doing post-Olympics publicity stuff and accidentally turn into a habit? Or maybe they start drifting apart and then Junior finds himself in another situation where he's facing down his father and finding it difficult to say no, so he seeks out Yul - and things develop from there? Or, if you want to make it sexy, maybe they end up comforting each other with their bodies in the Olympic Village, after the crash cuts their race short, but decide that what happens at the Olympics stays at the Olympics (or does it?), more power to you. And relatedly, I'm into any interpretation of their sexualities you want to go with, from recent revelation to known forever but closeted, uncomfortable with themselves to regularly dancing with drag queens, gay or bi or undefined. And if you want to throw in any of the rest of the guys as secondary characters, go for it - after all, they were there, too.

The room shared by Prodigies B (Chris) and C (Mitch) ( WITH PRODIGY A LITERALLY LIVING IN THEiR CLOSET THE STEAM TUNNELS BENEATH THEIR DORM) movie! So you should A) absolutely feel free to get weird, here. Because Chris is down for that, for sure. But also I'd love a plot where *Mitch* learns to get creative and zany, and he's the one suggesting the wacky plot that leads to shenanigans (and also sex)! Just bring it on!
Whoops, I went and incepted myself into a pairing! Or, well, I'm not sure I even ship them as a long-term thing - though if you wanted to convince me of that, I'm definitely not opposed - mostly, I'm feeling an equal-opportunity, bi Sherry who isn't oblivious to what's right under her nose, but who might be about to have her mind blown anyway! And a Jordan who hadn't actually considered the question of girls previously, but discovers she's (more than) up to the challenge once the proposition's been made. Because, okay, if Jordan isn't exceptionally talented with her mouth, given the chance - and up for the challenge of (re)designing sex toys - and generally just the most enthusiastic (and energetic) partner you could ask for, well, that would be at least slightly surprising, given her everything.
And, okay, if you aren't up for writing 1000+ words of the porniest E-rated fic, I will be in no way disappointed! Promise. And that, in particular, you first met Z Berg via Ryan Ross and really started digging her interactions with him. And then you found out about the rest of her band and listened to their music and dug all of that, too. That's my journey, anyway. And, really, I love all members of The Like, past and present, and would love to read a story involving all of them being their crazy-ass selves or some awesome AU interpretation thereof. Seriously, they're awesome and I'm easy. I love that both Z and Tennessee are never anything less than unequivocally themselves, and always have been. I'm interested in stories where they navigated getting together alongside forming a band AND stories where they come to realize how much they mean to each other as a result of not being in each other's pockets all the time any longer. Did I say friends who started a band together? Because here we go again, lol. With bonus ending up in some other guy's band (hi, Gabe) together. But also: these guys are my fav for wacky scenarios. Ryland pretends to be other characters. Alex cooks stuff. They get high and get sucked into Gabe schemes, drift apart and come back together. Maybe they fall into making some kind of silly online content together during lockdown (Alex does cooking show challenges using whatever he can find in his cupboards/convince a grocery store to deliver; Ryland transforms into a cooking show host with a silly accent and over-the-top personality, maybe)? Maybe they start writing music together again, but it's not This Is Ivy League music, or Cobras music, or anything else they've ever been...maybe there's been love there all along, but they just couldn't see it for the sunglasses and the drugs and the fame. Maybe they end up back in Florida for some reason and have to navigate coming back to where it all began, but feeling like completely different people...
Butcher/SiskyBiz
And that did happen with this band, but this isn't the pairing for that. This is my fav oldest/youngest* band member pairing. Also, they're the rhythm section, which is another one of those intra-band bonds I love. But the best fics for them always had a sort of hazy glow of smoking up and lazing around in bed in late-morning sunshine about them. Flavored with a smidge of guilt on Butcher's part about 'seducing' (lol) his lead-singer's pseudo-little brother, and maybe some sense that they need to sneak around. Tbh, the age difference isn't that big (5 years! the same as between Gabe and Bilvy, or Pete and Patrick!), but SiskyBiz was DEFINiTELY underage when Bilvy started the band. So I'm also down for a bunch of pining while being in the same room (or even while fucking), missing each other while feeling like you just can't get much time together, Butcher not believing that Sisky is really trying to get his attention...or write current era fic where they're reconnecting and finding that the five years that felt like such a big deal when they were in their late teens/early twenties means nothing 20 years later!

The Antichrist raised to be the Most Normal Boy in England vs the perfectly normal boy raised by an Angel and a Demon to fail at being the Antichrist. There's a potential connection there, one that I've always found intriguing - and a certain...this isn't the exact same experience, but nobody else can quite understand it the way you can? There's no reason they'd particularly know about each other in the immediate aftermath of the Apocalypse that Wasn't (particularly back in the 90s, in the book canon timeline) - or even if they each somehow made the news, they certainly wouldn't seem important under the circumstances. But I like the idea of the universe bringing them together somehow. Running into each other at Uni. Finding each other online in 90s era usernet/messageboards/chatrooms. Somehow ending up penpals. And then realizing they have quite a bit in common, despite the differences in their upbringings, and developing a connection from that. Other GO characters are certainly welcome along for the ride, but I particularly like it if their discovering that they know these people in common is a fairly late-breaking reveal.
