Nominations are open! See the tag set. Nominations close at 11:59pm EDT on July 22.
Everyone starts with 8 fandoms to nominate and 5 characters or relationships per fandom. When nominations close on July 22, I'll tidy up the tag set, then re-open nominations with a smaller slate, during sign-ups, so that you can nominate things you forgot. Basically: I don't want to drown under a flood of nominations (plz have mercy), but I also don't want people to get to sign-ups and feel like they can't sign up because crucial things are missing.
Please check this community before nominations end, because I'm bound to have questions about the nominations. If I don't get answers, I may mess up and approve them wrong.
FFFX is using the Fandom and the Character tag slots for nominations. Characters, relationships, and a Worldbuilding option can be nominated in the Character slot - please read further for how to format them.
In the Fandom field, you can enter a canonical or non-canonical fandom (yes, it's okay if there's no fic for it yet on AO3).
If you want to nominate a relationship, please enter it as Group: Character/Character (Fandom) (for romantic or sexual relationships) or Group: Character & Character (Fandom) (for platonic relationships).
The Group: part is is really important and helps future tag users.
The punctuation / and & is very important to indicate what sort of relationship it is.
Putting the fandom at the end of the nomination is really helpful to stop the tags misbehaving.
Larger groups are OK - ie, "Group: Character/Character & Character/Character" means you're asking for two sets of pairings who are doing something together or otherwise relate to each other.
If you want to nominate a character, just enter their name with the (Fandom) at the end. Some may even autocomplete. Original characters are also OK as long as you describe a character who could have existed in canon, such as "Original Force-sensitive Character (Star Wars Original Trilogy)".
If you want to nominate Worldbuilding for a canon, to offer or request it, please nominate it as "Other: Worldbuilding (Fandom)" (filling in the relevant fandom).
Some fandom notes:
Please separate out Marvel movies and separate TV shows - ie, Iron Man (Movies) rather than MCU.
Please nominate the Star Wars movies according to trilogy - no "Star Wars (All Media Types)".
Arrowverse TV shows and DCU and Marvel comics are discussed here.
"All Media Types" fandoms will probably be approved last, overall, because I'll want to see if there's a more specific version of the fandom that's in conflict. And I don't know many fandoms. So if you already know that All Media Types is what's right for your fandom, consider dropping me a comment to clarify so that I can confidently approve it faster.
Where you want to nominate a relationship between characters who appear in different fandoms, please nominate them under Crossover Fandom and include the fandom for each. For example: Group: Arya Stark (ASoIF)/Elsa (Frozen).
You can also nominate characters and groups under Original Work. Please indicate the genders of the characters if that is important to you. If someone requests Original Work characters or relationships with ambiguous genders, the preference of the person requesting takes precedence over the preference of the person offering. (But you can ask to add a more specific version to the tag set during sign-ups if that is an issue.)

Questions:
-Would there be interest in a generic Worldbuilding tag for any fandoms? - OK, there is interest! Including that
-Do you have any questions about how specific fandoms should be handled? Please bring them up soon so we can get them sorted out.

Date: 2020-07-13 02:06 pm (UTC)If someone nominated comics & worldbuilding, that would give me some pretty different ideas than just comics alone (which usually tend to default to character-oriented pieces). Same for fanfiction & worldbuilding.

Date: 2020-07-13 09:50 pm (UTC)I'd also like Power Rangers (TV) be grouped together. This is all the seasons of the show plus Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. The other two movies are different continuity.
I'd like Final Fantasy VII Remake to be separated from Compilation of Final Fantasy VII since it is still vague how related the two are, but there are significant plot changes between Remake and the original game.
For the X-Men Movies, merged but able to specify timeline in nomination or split between OTM and ATM?
Finally, how do you want DC and Marvel comics to be handled?

Date: 2020-07-14 06:18 am (UTC)My only preference for DC comics is being able to specify which Kara Zor-El I mean when nominating her. Due to retcons and such there are three distinct versions of her in the main continuity comics. If it's merged into DCU (Comics) and I can just specify Kara Zor-El (DCU Comics Prime Earth) that is fine with me.
For Marvel, it's usually either all lumped together or split by universe. I don't have a strong preference for this as either way I'm nominating Felicia Hardy.

Date: 2020-07-14 01:53 pm (UTC)comic nominations, since many of the DCU favs have multiple versions (like Doctor Fate). As long as we can add a little tag that specifies which version of the character we're talking about during nominations, I'm good with that!

Assassin's Creed: Ezio Trilogy (includes AC 2, AC: Brotherhood, AC: Revelations)
Assassin's Creed 3, etc
And any of the ships with characters between those games were nominated under crossovers.

So it looks like only the OFDE example would be allowed.

I don't particularly care which one you keep, but the canon tag is the one with both their courtesy and personal names. Please could you delete one of these?

Date: 2020-07-17 11:30 pm (UTC)The character has a different name to either side of that event. Sue Tenny before and Gwen Grayson after. I've run into trouble with this disambiguation issue before, so I wanted to ask-- What would be the preferred way to handle it?
Writing Sue when Gwen was requested or requesting only Sue when Gwen was nominated/offered seems extremely unfair to the party on the other side, and I'd rather just omit the characters from nominations altogether than smash the two together.

Date: 2020-07-18 05:15 am (UTC)I plan to nominate Phineas and Ferb but to mostly request characters from the 2nd Dimension which is an AU that the characters from the main canon visit in a movie and that later gets an episode within the primary canon. Because the characters have the same names in both universes, disambiguating normally involves putting '(2nd Dimension)' for the versions of the characters from that world.
The movie exists as a separate, searchable fandom tag on AO3 (I think it's under the main series, but I'm not clear on how that works), and normally, I'd just nominate the movie separately and use only 2nd Dimension characters, but I would like to request at least one set of characters with the mainline version interacting with the 2nd Dimension version. It's not a crossover, but it may need to be disambiguated as if it was. Something like Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (2nd Dimension) & Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb).
Because of the same name thing, I need to be clear whether any single character is from mainline Phineas and Ferb or the 2nd Dimension. For example, Candace Flynn/Jeremy Johnson (2nd Dimension) leaves it up in the air as to which Candace I'm asking for. Would something more like Candace Flynn (2nd Dimension)/Jeremy Johnson (2nd Dimension) be acceptable? Something else?
Would it be clearer in both cases if I used '(Phineas and Ferb: 2nd Dimension)' for the 2nd Dimension characters instead? I think that either version would make sense to anyone requesting or offering, and I'm not sure anyone would request or offer but me, but... Better to do it consistently and not confuse the mods.

Date: 2020-07-18 05:53 am (UTC)So Group: 2nd Dimension Vanessa Doofenshmirtz & Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (Phineas & Ferb).
Or, I suppose, if you think anyone reading the tag set would immediately know what you mean, just Group: 2nd-D Vanessa Doofenshmirtz & Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (Phineas & Ferb) to save space.

Date: 2020-07-18 10:04 am (UTC)My issue is mostly with the 'any', though. Please feel free to nominate, say, "Harry Potter & Other Hogwarts Students". Perhaps that seems like quibbling, but if so, I hope it's close enough to work for you. Or, if you simply nominate Harry Potter as a character by himself, and give prompts involving other Hogwarts characters as well, I expect that would work. In 10,000 words of story or a long comic it's certainly possible to write Harry interacting with no characters who were or are students at Hogwarts with him, but it seems as if it would be harder to do that than to include them.

Date: 2020-07-18 11:37 am (UTC)To clarify for crossover pairings, would the nominations "Group: Donna Noble (DW) & Atlantis expedition members (SGA)" and "Group: Martha Jones (DW) & Atlantis expedition members (SGA)" be OK if I want a story with Donna or Martha in Atlantis, since nominating single characters and giving prompts involving characters from the crossover universe wouldn't really be appropriate in this case?

Date: 2020-07-18 04:53 pm (UTC)That group name is unique to the 2nd Dimension setting, but the members aren't unique to the setting and so have to be tagged 2nd Dimension or some variant if I list them all. I got down to 204 characters, but that's still more than twice the maximum.
I've put them in as Firestorm Girls, but I'm willing to edit if there's a better way to structure the group.

Date: 2020-07-22 10:41 am (UTC)In general, new fandom nominations appear to moderators at random in a selection, and new characters in an approved fandom appear depending on how many other similar characters there are yet to approve. So it's not possible for me to keep you updated on this, unfortunately.
