For Saiyuki, "The Uten Sanzo" is a canon character who doesn't have a name or canon appearance - we only hear about him from a villain who killed him and kept the Uten sutra. For Ibun, "The current Muten & Maten & Seiten Sanzos (Saiyuki Ibun)" would be the sanzos who carry those sutras at the present time during Ibun (which takes place several years before current Saiyuki canon), before Koumyou, Goudai, and Tenkai. We see them from the back very briefly when they're welcomed to the temple where everything is happening, but don't otherwise have canon names or appearances for them.

I think "The Uten Sanzo" is probably as clear as you can get for Saiyuki since there's no canon information about him or any possible successors/his predecessors. Maybe "The deceased Uten Sanzo," but anyone who's read or watched Saiyuki will probably remember the arc where he comes up and that he's dead, since that's the only information we have... For Ibun, maybe it could be rephrased as "The previous generation Maten & Muten & Seiten Sanzos (Saiyuki Ibun)," but I don't know if that's substantially clearer to anyone who's already familiar with Ibun.

So, "The Uten Sanzo who died in the desert (Saiyuki)" and "Generation of Maten & Muten & Seiten Sanzos before Goudai & Koumyou & Tenkai (Saiyuki Ibun)"? I think those would work, although I also think it's a bit unnecessarily complicated for most people familiar with the canons.

Like hokuton_punch says, the Saiyuki/Saiyuki Ibun characters are all canonical but unnamed priests of very high rank ("sanzos"). The Uten Sanzo is the only one of the main/current day story line sanzos not to be canonically named, and we hear about his death from the person who killed him and who wishes to kill one of the four main characters, Genjo Sanzo (who holds two sutras, and is thus the Seiten and the Maten Sanzo of his time). Saiyuki Ibun is set during the training of the previous generation of sanzo priests, and the "current" sanzos are their predecessors. We see them from the back right at the end of the sole volume of Ibun, having a brief, irreverent conversation with the temple's high priest. Nothing about their gender or appearance can be discerned other than one of them is a youkai.

To add to what hokoton_punch says, I think "Generation of Maten & Muten & Seiten Sanzos before Tenkai & Goudai & Koumyou (Saiyuki Ibun)" is as clear as it can be (names rearranged simply to have them in order of their titles). We're only ever given information on one particular Uten sanzo (the one murdered in a desert) so I'm not sure if he needs to be clarified for people who know the canon, but "The Uten Sanzo who died/was killed in the desert (Saiyuki)" would indeed make it clear who was meant.

Kate/Yelena is now in Hawkeye. As Thunderbolts won't come out until after the exchange is over, I won't approve that, sorry, but I currently have that pairing in Crossover attached to CA Movies & Black Widow - let me know if you'd rather the characters are drawn from, say, Falcon & Winter Soldier and Hawkeye respectively.

However, I need to have a consensus on who is involved in the tag, and then you only get a focus on 2+ members there.

A commenter above had a similar list to yours, but didn't include Maverick. Instead they included Omaha, Harvard, Yale and Halo. Are those the four characters that you mean?

The tag as written means you could get a work about Jake & Yale & Halo - are you okay with that?

Not the nominator for either of the Trek items listed here, but I can tell you there are no specific groups of Caitians in Prodigy. So, the nominator is likely just looking for original members of that species.

For the Enterprise, it is not a sentient character on the show, but it is not uncommon in this fandom to write any of the ships as sentient, and/or to write a fic where the ship is itself the focus or plays a large role in the life of a character.

My thinking was that whether or not OTHER people see her as a character (in- or out-universe), I believe that Mr Scott does. 'Wee bairns' for the engines and a'that.

Not necessarily (tho' open!) to the Enterprise being a shipgirl or sentient in that sense, but simply that Scott sees her in that grey area sort of way.

And if you are specifically referring to my singular nomination of Enterprise (it really helps if I read ALL my noms for a fandom!), I was thinking of the Enterprise in a multi-faceted way, as a gestalt of the crew, the machine, the feelings the crew has for the machine, etc.

So, not necessarily a character directly as such, but because other people have thoughts and feelings that create the character, so therefore is one.

Again, hope this helps! It's really hard to translate impressions into words-that-make-sense-to-other-people. Wingtips crossed that I succeeded!

I'll add Scotty & the Enterprise; I can work with "other characters see [?? ambiguous] as a character". However, I'm a little unsure about the gestalt of the crew idea - that seems closer to me to a prompt for a particular approach and story than it seems like something where you and a creator/recipient would start out from the same expectations.
