I am not the original nominator for either of these, but the Untamed Script Book/Behind the Scenes Character descriptions mentions that Madam Wen adopted Wen Qing and Wen Ning after their parents died (I can attempt to dig up the links for this if necessary! They're somewhere in the depths of my tumblr) so she is a confirmed (if dead and does not appear on screen) character for the show continuity.

A ruzhui marriage is a form of traditional Chinese matrilocal marriage! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_Chinese_marriage#Ruzhui_marriage) this is as far as I know, not strictly limited to a specific time period or place across ancient China and occurred in several different dynasties. I think it's still more common in south China than north China, but this is kind of anecdata (there's some very cute Douyin videos of modern ruzhui wedding ceremonies and their traditions!)
