They're here! Nominations are open

Nominate HERE at the tag set. Nominations close at 11:59pm EDT on July 26.

Everyone may nominate up to 8 fandoms and 6 characters or relationships per fandom. Limited further nominations can be added during sign-ups.

After you've nominated, please check this community again before nominations end. We may need more information about what you've nominated, and we will post questions here.

FFFX uses the Fandom and the Relationship tag slots for nominations. You can nominate relationships, single characters, and a worldbuilding option. Please read further for how to format each of these.

In the Fandom field, you can enter a canonical or non-canonical fandom (it's okay if there's no work for it yet on AO3). There are tips on labelling new fandoms here.

What to enter in the Relationships field
To nominate a relationship, please enter Character/Character (Fandom) (for romantic or sexual relationships) or Character & Character (Fandom) (for platonic relationships).

Do NOT put "Group" or another prefix in front of a relationship nomination.

The punctuation / and & is very important to indicate what sort of relationship it is.

Putting the fandom at the end of the nomination is really helpful to stop tag misbehaviour.

Multiple relationships in one tag are OK - ie, "Character/Character & Character/Character" means you're asking for two sets of pairings who are doing something together or otherwise relate to each other.

To nominate a character, enter them in the format "Char: Name (Fandom)" - that is, actually type out "Char: ", but swap in the appropriate name and fandom, such as Char: Lucy Pevensie (Narnia - Lewis).

All nominated characters should explicitly exist in the fandom where they're nominated. Original characters are also fine as long as you describe a character who could have existed in canon, such as Char: Original Force-sensitive Character (Star Wars Original Trilogy).

To nominate Worldbuilding for a canon, enter it in the format "Oth: Worldbuilding (Fandom)" (filling in the relevant fandom), e.g. Oth: Worldbuilding (Narnia - Lewis). Not "Other".

Group nominations (ie "The Marauders") should be formatted as in this post. Groups need to have clearly-defined members. We won't approve tags of this type unless we're confident we know who's included - so when you nominate a tag of this type, consider commenting here in order to speed up our approval.

Some fandom notes
Please separate out Marvel movies and separate TV shows - ie, Iron Man (Movies) rather than MCU.

We will not approve "Star Wars (All Media Types)". Trilogies are fine. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) - All Media Types is an exception. Please nominate The Acolyte as its own canon.

DC's Arrowverse includes (at least?): Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman.

"All Media Types" fandoms will probably be approved last, overall, because if someone else wants a more specific version of canon, we'd prefer to approve that. If you believe All Media Types is what's right for your fandom, please comment so we can discuss that. Assassin's Creed - All Media Types is fine.

Where possible, we will not approve a larger set of fandom and a subset that is covered by the larger set.

To nominate a relationship between characters who appear in different fandoms, please nominate them under Crossover Fandom and include the fandom for each. For example: Arya Stark (ASoIF)/Elsa (Frozen - Movies). Please be specific if the fandom name could refer to different versions and adaptations. You can ask for general crossovers between fandoms by nominating "Oth: Worldbuilding (Fandom 1 & Fandom 2)"

You can also nominate characters and groups under Original Work. Please indicate the genders of the characters if that is important to you. If someone requests Original Work characters or relationships with ambiguous genders, the preference of the person requesting takes precedence over the preference of the person offering. (But you can ask to add a more specific version to the tag set during sign-ups if that is an issue.)

Sign-up requirements
The following information about sign-ups may help you plan your nominations:

-You need to request at least 4 separate fandoms with at least 1 relationship in each - so every nominated fandom needs at least one character, or one relationship, or one worldbuilding tag nominated underneath it

-Offer minimums are set as low as possible - you just have to be able to offer for someone else's request

-It's fine to request or offer a fandom more than once using different tags (so you can divide up your art/fic requests/offers with different tags)

Other
Please feel free to use the comments to ask questions or brainstorm with others.

If you find it helpful to keep a record of your own nominations, please save that information off AO3, because we will clear personal nominations during sign-ups to make it easier to add things at that time.

This group of moderators has not all worked together before - please be patient with inconsistencies and let us know of problems and we'll do our best to sort them out. (Thank you, other tag approvers!)

Question: what about Star Wars Legends (the old pre-Disney EU)? Is Star Wars Legends - All Media Types acceptable, or do you want us to break it down further?

All of the characters I nominated are present in the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. I would prefer to include events and worldbuilding that happens in other Legends post-OT stuff, but labeling it as the Thrawn Trilogy would probably be the easiest and would work.

Hi! I'm nomming for Midsomer Murders, and I'm unsure about what to do here.

There's a character from an episode that's known by one name throughout most of it, but it's then revealed he's another guy entirely, and that they were switched during a fire. During one of the final scenes f the episode, we see him using his birth name. Both his first and last name are different.

Do I use the name we know him at through most of the episode, his birth name (which is technically a spoiler for people that haven't seen it), or do I use the piping system? Personally leaning towards piping, since I wouldn't want an eventual creator to think they can only write him with his "fake" name, but I'm not sure what would be the best course of action here!

We don't learn a whole lot. It's basically a case of "mother to the baby that lived switches the babies around to ensure her babies' future, as the original was from wealthy parents". Throughout maybe 1 hour 10 out of a 1 hour 30 runtime, all we think we know about the guy is things we know about the "Fake" one. He doesn't even have an actor.

Would "main name (actor name)" be suitable?

Sure! AMT is the only fandom category available for midsomer murders, so I chose that. If you search for midsomer murders, AMT is the only one you get. I can change it to TV if that's preferred, even if AMT is the only canonical for it

I should have changed it now!

Two group nominations for One Piece Live Action, both for pirate crews

-"Strawhats" refers to the Strawhat Pirates, Luffy's crew. At the end of S1, this would be Luffy, Nami, Zorro, Sanji, and Usopp.
-"Arlong Pirates" refers to member's of Arlong's crew. Beyond Arlong himself, the two members with the most screentime are Kuroobi and Chew; there are also a number of unnamed members (and probably some named in the credits)

(Anonymous) 2024-07-20 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
For the Strawhats, I meant the latter; none of the secondary characters could reasonably be considered Strawhats during parts of s1. Sorry if I was unclear!

Yeah, for the Arlong Pirates that's basically it. There is a tragic lack of dashing octopus swordsmen in the live action (presumably for CGI budget reasons).

Hi! I've nominated ヲタクに恋は難しい | Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii | Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku (All Media Types) under AMT because the anime and manga are extremely failthful to each other. If someone nominates for either anime or manga, I'm fine with these being combined with those, but I do think that it makes sense to do AMT otherwise.

Also Ouran High School Host Club is AMT; that's the canonical fandom. Again, if anyone goes more specific I've got no qualms, but AMT is the canonical so I've put it there.

Thanks for all your work!

Hi mods! Please forgive me, but I was the nominator for 'Beyond a Steel Sky' and was wondering if it's not too late to change this to something like, 'Steel Sky Series' or something like that? It's less a Final Fantasy situation (different characters, different environments) and more of a Mass Effect situation (same MC, slightly different environments), so on reflection I think the 'series' way might be more appropriate. There are two games in the series, Beyond is the sequel, and while most of my requests would focus more on it, 'Beneath a Steel Sky' is still thematically relevant. There are 0 fics for any of these options (it's a Be the First kind of situation I guess) so I wasn't sure what would be best. My apologies, I really should have checked first before hitting go on the nominations. Any chance it can be changed at this stage? If not, no worries, it's my fault anyway and mea culpa!

hi mods! i noticed that under "ダンジョン飯 | Dungeon Meshi | Delicious in Dungeon" there is a ship approved as "Thistle/Degal (Dungeon Meshi)". that character's name is spelled Delgal, so the correct spelling would be "Thistle/Delgal (Dungeon Meshi)"

hi mods, i was the person who nominated "Casca & Griffith & Guts & Creator's Choice of Band of the Hawk Member(s) (Berserk)". that group is also known as band of the falcon (japanese has one word that can mean either hawk or falcon, and different translations into english will use either one, but it is the same group of characters), and consists of a handful of named members, as well as varying numbers (a few hundred to a few thousand) of unnamed ones. the major named members are as follows: griffith, guts, casca, judeau, corkus, rickert, pippin, gaston; the minor named members who show up only once or twice are as follows: dante, errol, riguel, dillos, kim, nichole, and sam.

I'm interested in nominating some Georgette Heyer novels, which don't cross over but the vast majority are in the same genre/setting (Regency England romance). There's an existing canonical "HEYER Georgette - Works" tag that seems to cover all her novels, but they're all technically separate stories, just with extremely similar themes & setting. Do you have a preference about whether I treat it as one fandom and nominate ships from multiple of her books in that fandom, or nominate each novel separately as its own fandom?

Hello! I was curious about how Crossover Fandom is counted in terms of the requirement to request at least 4 separate fandoms. Does Crossover Fandom count as its own fandom, or is it counted based on the fandoms in the crossover? For instance, if you make a request for Fandom A, a request for Fandom B, and a request for a crossover between Fandom A and Fandom B, is this considered 3 separate fandoms (Fandom A, Fandom B, and Crossover Fandom) or is it only considered 2 separate fandoms (Fandom A and Fandom B, with Crossover Fandom not counting because you are requesting two fandoms that you have already requested). Would it be different if you only previously requested one of the fandoms in the crossover? For instance, in the previous example if the crossover you requested was between Fandom A and Fandom C, would that change how the fandom is counted because Fandom C is a new fandom that you haven't requested anywhere else? Similarly, if you requested a crossover between Fandom A and Fandom C and a crossover between Fandom A and Fandom D, would this count only count as 1 fandom (since they both fall under the category of Crossover Fandom) or would it count as 2 fandoms since Fandom C and Fandom D are both separate fandoms?

Sounds good, thanks!
