Getting closer...
Alice in Borderland (TV and Manga)
Nominator, could you expand a little on why this should be both TV and manga, in contrast to the canonical tags? I'm unfamiliar with this canon.
Almost Human (TV)
Group: MX-43 Character/Richard Paul (Almost Human)
Does this mean any existing MX-43 character, or an original one?
Beatles (Band)
Group: Linda McCartney/Paul McCartney & children (Beatles)
This tag was approved by mistake - sorry about that, nominator. I will change this to Linda/Paul & Stella & Mary unless you'd like another tag or you think another of the relevant children qualifies as a celebrity. I do not wish to approve RPF characters who are not famous in their own right.
Crossover Fandom
Group: Esme Cullen (Twilight)/Narcissa Malfoy (HP)
Group: Jareth (Labyrinth)/Tristan Thorn (Stardust)
Group: Kit Snicket (ASOUE)/Madeleine (Gunpowder Milkshake)
Group: Mike Jackson/Rupert Psmith (Wodehouse) & Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)
Lance Tucker (The Bronze)/Sam Wilson (Marvel)
Other: Worldbuilding (Howl's Moving Castle) & (Labyrinth)
Other: Worldbuilding (Howl's Moving Castle) & (Spirited Away)
Other: Worldbuilding (Howl's Moving Castle) & (The Witcher TV)
Nominators, please narrow down which canons/adaptations/universes are meant for Good Omens, Howl's Moving Castle, Marvel, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Stardust, and Twilight. If I don't hear otherwise I'll assume HP can be changed to HP-JKR.
Homestuck 1, Homestuck 2
I'm a bit out of my depth here, sorry. What does Homestuck 2 refer to, specifically? Is that the canon also formatted as Homestuck^2? Is Homestuck 1 the original Homestuck, or everything that isn't Homestuck^2? Help please.
Iron Man Noir
Group: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark (Noir)
Help me out here please - Steve Rogers doesn't seem to appear in Iron Man Noir. Should this be a crossover nomination?
Journey (Video Game 2012)
I'm having some trouble with the character names - advice appreciated. Who is the Precursor? Are the nominated White Cloak and Red Cloak characters specific characters or original characters (especially in regards to Red Cloak/Red Cloak)?
Original Work
Group: Confused Orc/Man Who Accidentally Seduced Him By Rolling 1 On Attack Then Went With It (OW)
Uh, should this go under Forgotten Realms?
Paintings - James Christensen
Please be more specific. Is there a name for a series of this artist's works?
Twilight Series - All Media Types
Jasper Hale
Bella Swan
Would you like this to go under the movies or under Meyer's books?

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)When writing Steve/Tony in Marvel Noir, the authors make up how Steve would fit in that universe. It's commonly accepted within Noir fandom that some version of Steve exists, the creator just makes up how he exists.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)It's a bit of a weird situation, but people don't bring in other Steves, they create a Noir one.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-30 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)Agreed in general. This kind of Big Two official AU isn't exactly an independent fandom, however -- it exists entirely in tension with "the canon" in the way an AU fanfic does. If the AU doesn't specify that its leads are the only primary continuity characters present (this does sometimes happen), it's assumed by fandom and generally also, explicitly, by the creators that the full cast exists in the AU and most of them just haven't passed through the eye of the "camera". These characters aren't considered to have been borrowed in; their native existence is implied as part of the premise of the AU. "What would so-and-so be like and how would their origin story play out in this AU" is a really common exercise in this context.

I will allow it this year because it seems like enough people are interested in it & have a shared understanding of what it means that it is not going to cause problems later in the exchange, but will probably specify more strictly next year that characters have to appear in the fandom or be positively implied to be there, rather than "we don't know they can't be" or "this is a common fanon character".
