I'm a bit out of my depth here, sorry. What does Homestuck 2 refer to, specifically? Is that the canon also formatted as Homestuck^2? Is Homestuck 1 the original Homestuck, or everything that isn't Homestuck^2? Help please.

Hi, I'm the (TV and Manga) nominator! Yes, for all the reasons that you said. There aren't many differences in the versions, so it doesn't make sense to separate requests into two fandoms for requests. It's just that the TV show has only covered half the manga so far, so nominating under only TV felt strange to me. My line of thought was that I wouldn't want someone who has read the manga to feel limited to what the TV show has covered, but I also didn't want someone who has seen the TV show to feel like they needed to catch up with the manga before the next season airs, if that makes sense.

I'm planning to read the remaining books very soon and have already been thoroughly spoiled, so book canon is fine!

This is an alternate earth, where we get to see a different origin story for some of the heroes, but just some. One could speculate that there are more untold stories. Besides, there's nothing in canon that suggests that Steve Rogers doesn't exist on this Earth. Iron Man living in his era, in this Verse, would make it possible for the two to meet. Is this helpful?

Yeah, exactly. I think the key thing is that someone making narrative fanwork featuring interiority or dialogue or backstory for an "original" red cloak vs. a "canonical" red cloak will have to do basically exactly the same amount of pure invention.

That first tag is a possibility, though I wonder if it might make people think they can't offer it unless they've seen the paintings in the 1994 book. I also see that this is a closed canon as the artist is unfortunately no longer alive.

Re: 6 Bird Hunters in Full Camouflage - it helps matching if there is at least one character in the set and if there isn't I'd need to add a placeholder/dummy tag. So you could have:

Generally people call him 'Noir Steve' and that's widely understood to mean 'the Steve Rogers from Earth-90214'. Steve was there in the 40s in almost all versions of canon, so it's easy to imagine how he fits in Noir. I wouldn't use anything that indicates a crossover because that'd mean something different. So maybe ... idk, Hypothetical Noir Steve?

I'm fine with them being separate. Are these common labels to divide them up, though? Otherwise I was thinking "Homestuck" and "Homestuck^2" (does it usually have the caret?)

Oh no worries! And good point, I haven't seen it divided like that aside from one nominationp for a different exchange. You're almost certainly right that more people would recognise plain old 'Homestuck' at first glance.

AO3 doesn't allow carets in titles/character fields(/maybe additional tags too?) so it would probably be best to go with Homestuck 2. That would be enough that I doubt most people in the fandom would think it involved the games or other HS content.
