Re letter completion, I don't have a strong opinion either way. Deleting letter links if the letter is not complete does seem unnecessarily punitive, however.

I think the check-in in November is definitely necessary. At that point I had my concept and a chapter outline, but not a single actual word written; the check-in period served to light a fire under me to get started!
